I recently stated I was scammed on Head Fi. I was way too careless, and are is the details -
That's fucked up.
Wait I don't get it... why did he even send you a box with a candle in it? If you are going to scam someone, why give them candles?
As an insult?
The box has to weigh something to avoid suspicions?
Dear Yeshua, this is bullshit. Any chance you can ID the asshole from the package they sent?
It's the same, Freddy Agurak.
My bad, couldn't buffer the vid at a high enough res. Anyone here have luck pursuing someone over stuff like this? Also, any signs the package was tampered with by the post? Some cases of missing/messed-with parcels friends and acquaintances have encountered were due to underpaid postal workers.
Unlikely by CP. The box was broken, but that small hole isn't enough to take a full size Eikon out and put some candles in.
Wait, you are the one that got candle in box(as shown here in video), but he is the one accusing you that you send him candle?(as said in PM)
Yes. That's why I thought sending in the candles is a deliberate insult.
He probably sent you something you had to sign for so he can claim you received the Eikon's and are trying to scam him. Good thing you filmed it.
As I mentioned in my PM, gut wrenching to hear. Very very sorry.
Any chance you have the serial number and pictures?
You should file a report with:
1. US Postal Service Fraud - https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/contactUs/filecomplaint.aspx
2. FBI Fraud - https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
3. Local Police (providing information above)
PM me with any questions on those sites. A police report now may come in handy later. Also emphasize these are very expensive luxury headphones (e.g. mention the price many times, include pictures from the website).
If you used PayPal you should get your money back. Hopefully you did
So he traded his headphone worth $800-$900 on the used market for a headphone worth $400-$500?
Thanks for sharing, mate. Really gotta watch out for these scammers.
He goes by many names:
He has created a new reddit username that resembles a head fi user, was active today with username Javertim. I contacted the head fi member and he said that is not his reddit account. He previously claimed to be Eaglewings under username eaglewings1990.
Well, what do you know. Its a small world. A few people contacted me on Head-Fi asking me if I was the EagleWings1990 on reddit. I had to make a profile post here and on HF, just to warn users about the EW1990. 2 redditors and I have reported him to the reddit mods, but they seem to have not taken any action about his account.
The buyer works in very sophisticated ways. He learns the real name of the person he is impersonating and uses it to make contact with the seller. Based on the homework I have done, he does not pay and buy items. He approaches sellers to trade their headphones and scams them by sending them junk in place of actual headphones, like in @Griffon 's case, candles. It seems like his accounts have been shut down in the past, but the guy keeps emerging with new profiles.
His real name is possibly Justin, but not completely sure, as he might be using a fake name there. He lives in New Jersey. So watch out for this address guys: 1233 Lakeshore Drive, Camden, NJ.
If any of the mods are reading this, it would be nice if we can get a banner on the home page to warn the users here.
Here is a conversation between him and one of the redditors, who almost shook hands on a deal.
Real talk, the amount of asspulling this guy is doing should land him a nice prison sentence, yes?
Separate names with a comma.
