For Andro, you'd for sure need attenuation with either amp. And iematch (ultra setting (edit: no, 'high' setting - see below)) will probably be good for tonality too, boosting their sub 0.5 Ohm output Zs to about 2.5 Ohms.

@Biodegraded I'm not sure, but want to understand: Do you mean high sensitivity (2.5) on the iematch or ultra (<1ohm)? Every time I have to remember which is high and which is ultra, I have to go to the iFi webiste. High and ultra aren't user intuitive in tandem when they are decreasing values, though I know it makes "sense."

@imackler , you're right - I mean the 2.5 Ohm setting, but thought that was called 'ultra'. Edited to clarify.

One of the best deals out there right now, IMO; before the 2020 was released a year ago, these were still excellent IEMs even at $1100. Given your headphones, you might prefer this version (the 2020 doesn't have the sparkle).

Beware source pairings: the Andro is very sensitive and will hiss with many sources; output impedance also matters a lot; low Zout, below an ohm, makes them bassy; 1.5-2.0 ohm are brighter.

Last BA I heard was the blessing 2.. Jvc fdx1 out did it for me. I guess this will be the test to see how much of that was BA timbre. At least I can use the Drop points to finally buy the ATH turntable :) think it's $152 off any other drop item

It's worth it just to hear them as a reference point. They'll still have good resale value if you don't like them. I believe many people still use them as their main IEMs.

I've had mine for 3 years now and still love it. Prefer my HD 6XX with it over ZDT Jr (but that's partly to do with DAC pairings).

Pairing is huge. I thought the CTH would get eclipsed, but some frequencies are heard better. A cheap price to pay for enjoyment too!

why don't u just get a xlr -> 1/4" adapter? u can easily make one yourself or just buy one of those on amazon

I've never used one, but I don't think I would be fond of the added bulk. I should try to make one though, would be a good skill to learn with no risks.

It's funny you mention this. When I sold my CTH to Fraggler, the stock EH tube had cracked and we didn't think it was shipping related. Maybe they have weak bases and can't handle being removed and reinserted.

Not using xlr inputs on Jot helps so much for Auteurs. Always sounded too hot no matter where the volume knob was, good stuff

I really need to demo a pair to compare to my 650s. It's kind of a bummer that massdrop went the 6XX route rather than doing a 650 AND 600 clone.

Would definitely demo if you get the chance, but I think even if you have both you're only gonna use one for a change of pace :)
