How long has the person had it? If it is like an hour, maybe I could see them expecting some sort of recompense. But if they've had the amp for days or more then they have no leg to stand on here. You have no clue if or how they may have abused it, and it was an as-is sale and you're not Wal-Mart, lol. That's my take on it anyway.
Apparently it's not working at all -- despite both of us listening to it (functioning perfectly) just before he brought it home.
The buyer claims it wasn't working since he first turned it on at his home, but he hadn't contacted me about it at all until 10 days after picking it up.
I'm definitely hesitant about involving myself in the repair bill given the circumstances.
I thought it was the tubes too, but he tried replacements and that wasn't it.
He's in touch with the original builder who guided him through diagnostics (via DMM) to find out that the transistors in the amp might be dead for some reason.
I know we chatted about this already but I'm going on the record:
1. Buyer verified unobtanium amp was working at your place, packed it up and took it home.
2. Buyer waits 10 days then claims it's bust. Tries to squeeze cash from you.
f**k that. Not only does it sound sketch (guessing buyer did something stupid), if he is in the unobtanium game, he should be able to afford (and expect) to self insure.
If I had just dropped 10K plus USD on an amp, and it wasn't working when I plugged it in, I wouldn't be waiting 10 days to report it to the original owner. It would be straight away. Seems weird.
