I never got the impression the Utopia or Focals in general went away enough to have a comeback. Being higher priced, the Utopia is likely to have less owners in general, so also less likely to be talked about regularly.
Elex still seems to stand favorably. I think what happens is it too is still much more expensive than the HD650, for example, not as ergonomic, and has a slightly less agreeable overall tone and timbre and Senns. And, so, it too is likely to get less regular discussion.
In the end, I think if anyone feels the Utopia or other Focals made some sort of comeback, they might still be growing out of the FOTM mindset that permeates the hobby. They never really went away, IMO.
It's because secondhand prices have come down enough for people to think about owning it. Think at full retail price and synergy you need with high end amps, might as well go for two channel.
