@n3rdling Good post and points about quality vs quantity of bass. I'm a huge basshead, but I love the other frequencies as well. Th900 is the perfect phone for me. I would still be happier if something came along with "better lower end", as in more clean bass.

This is the first Z review I've fully watched, and.. Amazon referrals, hype, and mid-fi comparo-lulz aside .. it was absolutely f'ing hilarious. I mean that in a good way... like pure unadulterated fanboyism on display right there. Dude basically pissed himself hearing Stax for the first time.. and I'm happy for him. I'm less inclined to view the video reviews or Z as an authority in the hobby since I've spent long enough in it to know the landscape.. so from a pure FUN standpoint, I enjoyed the review. Also, I don't think he ever said the 2170 was (objectively) better than the 007.. just that he (subjectively) liked the 2170 more. Nothing wrong with that.

As a Z Reviews fan, I wondered how long until a thread was started here. ;-)

I watch him for entertainment and non-BS style. I really enjoy watching him. However, he's only one of my audio resources.

Careful. You aren't even allowed to question the vociferous nature of others' criticism of Z around here, let alone enjoy him yourself. Before I once had the temerity to do the former, I had zero dislikes. Lol.

I've finished reading the entire thread. Ouch, dude! Heh - I wouldn't let the dislikes bother you. If you're able to state your true opinion, without regard for likes or dislikes, then kudos to you. :)

Regarding Z, I have mostly viewed him as an entertainer. By the way, I'm looking forward to the review of his cat, Chewbacca.

For better or worse, it'll be interesting to see where he and his channel will be ~2 years from now.

He sounds like a "stereotypical jewish mother" reviewing (mostly) mid-fi audio gear. :D:D:D

Yeah, he got carried away with his own hype of them Stax's - how many here have actually heard a pair? And he has way too good things to say for bad sound (Porta Pro and X2) but does sometimes see where hype is misplaced, like the M50's.

I still like to watch his videos for entertainment, if not for the accurate latest word on the products. After Tyll he's the one I watch on Youtube. For different reasons, but still.

I thoroughly enjoy watching his videos. Never heard of him before, but his reviews are great entertainment. Since I've watch a few, I now receive alerts when he posts new videos, highlight of my day.

I suppose I watch hie videos for the same reason people stop and stare at car accidents, just to see the wreckage.

    Chicken soup for the headphones?

I've never viewed him at all, but I view this thread for the entertainment. Very good it is too!

Nothing wrong with watching for entertainment purposes. I actually watch him occasionally to put my finger on the pulse of how certain sects of the population approach gear, less for actually deriving information about the gear itself than about the sub-culture of consumers Z represents and targets.

His review of the Vali 2 was absolutely horrible, but it's useful sometimes to read/watch a horrible review.

I felt embarrassed just watching that... ...I'm talking physical shame inducing levels of cringe. You know it's good cringe when you feel embarrassed by proxy. It's one of those things that makes you think "Wow! And he posted that on the internet!"

She really handled the awkward tension like a champ, though. She probably didn't know what she was getting into only to realize very quickly what was happening. They don't seem to know each other too well, so it must've been pretty surprising to her. Good on her for being a good sport. She's a nice girl.

I wonder if they still talk. Who knows? Maybe they're actually getting it on by now. Or maybe he tried that angle before... ...it kinda seems like that might be the case. There's this weird hard line about their interactions. They're 'friendly' like co-workers who just met and are forced to interact with each other.

I bet he paid her to be there. I hope he did, anyway.

I actually do enjoy Z's content from time to time. His enthusiasm is inspiring, though I don't think I wanna be quite like that with the things that I like. I don't turn to him for information, though. He seems sincere enough to me, even if he is severely misguided. Just kind of a bumbling and awkward guy with some unhealthy obsessions. He's a genuine nerd. If anything, he's just obsessed to a fault. It's obnoxious but I don't think it is a crime.

It is strange to me that he still acts like a bright-eyed newbie after years of experience and having tried as much gear as he has.

I think from a moral responsibility standpoint, he's no worse than countless other reviewers. His approach at least makes it clear that he's not a serious reviewer. He takes the subjective approach to an extreme. It blows my mind that people actually make purchasing decisions based on what he comes up with. If you're willing to seriously consider the opinions of a bumbling and raving man who has shinyitis as he shakes headphones and flails his arms around with a gopro strapped to his head, then, well...

Something about the way he forms his ideas about things kinda fascinates me. I wonder what goes on inside of his head sometimes. He's funny to me in ways I'm sure he doesn't mean to be.

8 minutes. He tries too hard to be funny and she somehow lets him. I did like the Mel Brooks reference.

Very surprised, he has a wife! I thought he was the type of person who owns body size pillows with anime girls drawn on them, but hey good for him on getting hooked up with an actual woman!

A few seconds into the video, I realized that she is a stranger to him that he somehow lured her into his home. That makes a lot more sense!
