Anyone else notice the severe lack of any information here...

 

Pardon my pun, but I think Z reviews fits it's name literally, watching any of his videos makes you go:

 

...but aren't his sound demo's pretty good? He keeps a fairly consistent playlist (sometimes stifled because of youtube licensing I bet).

His testing setup for speakers/headphones is consistent... and you can hear the deltas between them on your own, I kinda like it.

I really want to give him a hard time not hearing a difference with the Bifrost Multibit multibit... def something limiting his setup/process there!

 

When you say "delta" do you mean "delta" as in between value x and y there is delta ... which accounts to a difference in ....

Or is it a matter of you liking strong river currents where river currents are stronger than sea currents when ending up at the coast?

Whatever the case may be, you can always draw a triangle because delta.



If your are confused just watch Kung Fury. It will confuse you more.

 

That's the thing I least understand about him. Quite often when talking about sound, he pretty much suggests that the sonic differences between things aren't relevant beyond it not sounding like shit. Even when he doesn't outright say it, you can tell he's thinking it. Sort of a "They're headphones. these are speakers. It's an amp. Here's a DAC." angle to his comments.

Just really glossy, dismissive descriptions. And then it's like, "So anyway... ...blue light sucks, but that's okay. Nice knob. Clicky clicky button. This cable. Contours. Sharp edges. Tiny. Huge. This is pretty comfortable. I have lots of pads. I like these pads with this headphone. This box has this and this and you can do this with that and it does this thing, but you can't do that because it doesn't have these, so you'll need this. "

...which given his experience and just sheer exposure, doesn't make any sense to me. How does he not hear differences? Does it just not matter to him? It's not like he doesn't have access to gear that can facilitate that. I mean, don't get me wrong. Features and build quality are good to know about...

 

You forgot him mentioning the cat every 5 seconds.
Btw, does anyone know what breed that is? Fluffy but manages to not look fat...

That's interesting. Never woulda thought... ...somehow, I just picture his head as a giant flappy hand with ears.

 

I can't imagine where you get the idea it would have ears.

 

LMAO I was kinda picturing it holding headphones... ...and when it clutches them a certain way, the cups rest on the ears and it begins to bob back and forth, like you or I would do when knocking on a door. I see him holding three headphones. One in his headhand, just bobbing away. And then one in each normal human hand, getting shook to death. Sometimes he reserves one normal hand for sensually caressing a dac/amp combo unit. That's the only way I can ever imagine Z Reviews looking.

Just imagine how hard it must be for him to get a proper seal. No wonder he doesn't want to talk about it.

 

Who remembers The Invisible Man? Not certain, but think it might have been an H G Wells story. The TV series* scared me as a youngster back in 1950-something.

Anyway, with that Mr Invisible, he had to be bandaged to be seen. Maybe we have another Mr invisible: seen only when wearing headphones.

Whoa! Here's a frightening thought... Has anybody ever seen Tyll shirtless? Are the Torsoless Ones among us already?


*Utterly off-topic, but do any of the other oldies remember another vintage TV adventure series in which the villain was heard, but only seen as the outline of eyes on the wall? Been trying to match my memory of this for ages. Couldn't find the right google.
