Prism Sound was excellent. This is the best DAC you can get for under a thousand dollars new right now thanks to their failed attempt to enter into the hifi market. It’s an Orpheus/Lyra without the ADC.

Time spent listening to USB is near zero as of yet. Approximately 20 hrs spent listening to spdif inputs from Dante Digital Delivery System, which is how I typically use DACs. Even on the road I take Dante; don't leave home without it.

They’re also the two best sounding pieces of Chi-fi. Holo spring doesn’t have the same chifi low end of Focusrite now. Focusrite could be better tonally if they made it in the UK and used Lundahls on input and Carnhills on outputs again. Their gear is all tonally off now that it’s been value engineered but god damn the Red/Rednets are smooth even if the detail isn’t there.

I’m on MOTU AVB. It’s rock solid and the built in conversion is good (better than Apogee Element/Ensemble, not as good as Symphony) and it works on more systems but the drivers aren’t as fast as Audinate. The main issue is MOTU drivers never have reported accurate latency to the DAW. I’m super interested in the Metric Halo MH Link and if the Apogee Symphony USB drivers will be standard Thesyscon.

ES9016S in the AVB ones but the chip doesn’t matter. The MOTU implementation is excellent. The midrange is soft and it has depth. Who knows with this bus powered usb prosumer stuff though.

There is no expandability so this is strictly for audiophiles, podcasters, and the 4 for bedroom guitarists (two mics on amp, a di on the line in) It’s obviously made to smash up the low end market from Focusrite and Steinberg with better quality, made in the USA stuff. Anyone recording anyone but themselves in a project studio would do better to get one of the AVB interfaces with ADAT, 8 pres, or 16 channels of i/o.

FYI, good friend has the M2, sold his Marantz Dac-1 and Steinberg UR22 mkii. Former for listening, later for recording a few things. I have not heard it yet.

Curious your thoughts now that you've had them for a while. I ended up getting rid of HD650 stock and modded in favor of HD600. Think my only regret is not switching the HD650 headband pad in as I think it's more comfortable than the HD600's.

My HD 600 cable broke quickly so I replaced it with an HD 650 one. Otherwise I'm happy.

Do the new HD600 come with the slick plug adapter that they old versions shipped with? I don't know why, but I really want one of the classic HD600 with marbling and that cool plug. Mostly the cool HD600 classic cable tho.
