Don't get into the mindset that you have to finish in 4 years. That's what I thought and I overloaded my courses and did terribly. If I could go back I would do 12 hours and take more summer school for my electives.
What they said. Don’t overload yourself. You’ll end up burning out and maybe not even finish. Better to take the time you need. One extra semester in your 5th year isn’t the end of the world. Also, depending on your major, internships during the summers are more important than graduating a little sooner as well.
^^^read these 3 posts and follow a combination of them. Internships are huge, do them every summer and think of them as networking relationships that could turn into jobs after college.
P.S. 18 credits is bonkers, don't even think of doing that.
18 credits isn't that bad. It's what I did first semester, and this semester. It's honestly not that much work. I probably spent about 2 hours a week on homework, and still got a 3.5. it's my major and 2 minors giving me all these classes.
Although this semester im actually going to try for a 4.0. last year I didn't really try, or do much work outside of class. With a bit of work and studying though, I think I can get that 4.0, or at least close.
Not bad if you have no job and/or outside interests. At one time I was in a band, had a job, and college radio station manager, and 12 hours was almost too much.
