What's missing?

They're all midbass/lower mids: very dark sounding. The lack of presence/treble makes them not particularly engaging for me.

Before you dump them, buy a pair of KSC-75s on Amazon for $14 and snap them into the Porta Pro headband. The drivers just pop on and off, super easy. See if that makes you happy. That's my preference being an HD600 guy.

I like my PM3's too.. Just wish they had a bit more bass presence. I can't find replacement headband cover though here in China but on Taobao I found this knitted cover that snaps over it so at least I won't have flakes of headband in my hair.

@DigMe I just had the headband and ear pads replaced, that should give me a few more years of trouble free wear.

And I'm impressed with the hardiness of the drivers: through extreme heat and cold (by accident) they've never failed.

Did you buy the replacement pads yourself or send them somewhere? Now that they went out of business not sure what to do about that.

I sent them to oppo digital here in California. I don't know if you have direct service where you are. It was $100 USD.

Oh that's good to hear that they're still servicing the products. How long ago did you do that?
