To give an idea, we only do 3 mixed drinks at home:
Gin and Tonic
Aperol Spritz
Margarita (using only fresh limes and simple syrup)
So we prefer clean and crisp finishes.
Suggestions?
Yeah, I think ChaCha's on the right track. Whiskey Sour is kinda like a whisky Margarita. I like sweet, so I'd start with 2 oz Crown, 3/4 oz lemon juice, 3/4 oz simple syrup. I'd also add egg white for texture, but that's not strictly necessary. Shake the hell out of it until it's frothy. If you did add egg white. rub lemon zest around the rim of the glass before serving.
If you want a few other ingredients, another way to power through cocktail fodder is 1/4 oz Amaro, 1/4 oz simple or cherry syrup, and 2oz whiskey and stir (or shake or hell even blend) with ice.
@famish99 I like the way you think. I would use 2 oz whiskey, 4 oz cane sugar cola (Coke or Pepsi), and .25 oz Fernet Branca or Avenra. Delicious over ice.
