A/B testing requires level matching to 0.1 dB because louder sounds better, right? So don't spend money on gear, just crank the volume. Duh.

  I thought all hifi salesmen knew the rule: louder, unless already too loud, always sounds better.
  
  I think it's a reasonable idea that increases in level which are too small for us to perceive as changes in volume may be perceived as changes in quality. I do not know if it has actually been shown.

Seriously, we need to go back to putting tubes inside enclosures -- or at least in wire cages -- to protect them from us and vice-versa.
