I've owned a couple Android based players, and am not interested in doing it again. The downsides are not worth the "but you can use streaming services" part. They have limited useful life, get slower every software update, and eventually those streaming apps stop working.

The WM1xxx Series were always the bigger/heavier DAPs with great build quality and sound. What I am not hopeful is bitperfect audio if running other Android apps. Only the Sony music app from what I read runs stuff bit-perfect.

But at least we get the regular model and the true golden brick variant again.

Also sucks because Sony’s non-Android UI is one of the best DAP UIs out there, if not the best, and has bit perfect built right into the settings.

Android is fine, just that Sony doesn't know how to use it and won't maintain it, so we have to buy another Sony DAP in two years.

I mean if it sounds good, it sounds good. Just dunno if its really worth the price seeing the market is far more saturated than ever.

On the plus side I can stick with my WM1A without worrying that I'm missing out.
