Sometimes I feel like NM looking records have been played thoroughly with a decking nail as a stylus. A few of my ELO records are like this, but they’re the only ones this bad.

I should look closer at them with a magnifying glass or microscope.

I have one album which looks as if all four sides have been sanded. It plays nicely! Nicest surprise of my record-buying life.And all for one GBP, because it was rated as condition=awful.

That's vinyl life. Sadly, the not-so-nice surprises are more frequent.

Rumor has been you should purchase multiples of the same album than sell the bad ones on discogs

Visually mint, plays like VG-... joys of vinyl collecting. Sometimes a few plays or a few passes through an ultrasonic cleaner can help.

But, yeah, if it's crackles, I'd say VG minus.

Just when I'm thinking of dipping my toes back into vinyl....
