when toggling gain settings. This is something I noticed happened on the Magni 3+ too; I'd have to wiggle the switch a bit to be able to re-center things. Given how that ended up (the gain switch on the 3+ got stuck halfway through, need to replace it still), I'm just sticking with my preference (high gain) and forgetting low gain exists. Balance is still great down to ~7 o'clock on the pot so it's very usable. (2/3)
I imagine that the main culprit is probably tiny bits of dust debris getting stuck some place where contacts need be made. I should probably make a mesh enclosure for the audio stack at this rate. (3/3)
Possible corrosion from humidity? Could be that the switch is particularly susceptible to it as the symptoms are the same and the wiggling sounds like friction is the solution. How could cat hair even get in there?
@Sqveak I was kinda being facetious, but I'm sure some very fine cat hairs might have gotten into it over the months I've had the amp, just not necessarily IN the gain switch. Corrosion is a more likely suspect, on a serious note, because I remember that WD40 contact cleaner DID help with the 3+'s issues... temporarily. Yeah electronics in this climate are just debuffed, gah.
