    And regarding whether it’s a an original FLAC or just converted MQA, I would certainly hope not the latter, but I am skeptical as well. Hopefully someone like @GoldenOne can do some kind of analysis at some point to compare…

    It sounds like they're trying to get new files for everything and playing mqa where they don't have it yet, so I don't think anything is being converted from mqa on their end.

    There are tons of files on Tidal that are not MQA, even though a lot of stuff has been encoded as MQA. At the end of the day, Tidal is a close second to your ripped CDs (lossless of course) being played by a good player. At least that is my experience.
