@cizx, you are so vulnerable and don't even realize it. Self restraint is hard at 1000PM...

    Find peace...at least I'm trying..

EDIT: posted in case you decide to un-ignore.

I'm a PM for a big tech company. My job is to be super technical but also have huge amounts of empathy for the user. I'm good at climbing into other people's shoes.

You mentioned a page or two back:

    "I directglobal IT/architecture for a multi-billion-dollar multi-national."

GM or Sr director of prob enterprise or SAAS architecture for a big multi-national VC. Most likely enterprise since you came from MS.

I liked this thread more when it was people making one succinct post about their job IRL instead of blathering on about their extensive experience. If you don't want to tell us, don't. If you do, do. It's been two damn pages. Give it a rest. Go start a "vague allusions to my life" thread if you'd like.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I already planned on forking the thread once I'm not longer out of pocket.

    No worries.

And apologies for the disruption (absolutely nothing passive/aggressive intended here, sincerely), just thought it might be a bit of fun while procrastinating/ruminating on my Spring DAC write-up and was clearly off base there.

Will find something relevant for the LA meet if the stated "prizes" (as such) are something anyone wants (don't really want to reneg on that).

So does this mean that you do not do beer commercials?

I was pretty sure you are this guy.

I prefer this one, and it may be relevant to @Torq's job:

    ;)

I have a couple of Tux.

    I prefer French-cuffs and interesting cuff-links.

I do enjoy a nice stogie.

But I'm not nearly that suave ... and I'd look a complete asshole in a beard.

It is, or was, one of the accurate statements in my original post (some were there simply as an apparently-misplaced attempt at humor).

I do do some consulting for local VCs. I've embedded in one or two local ventures as a mentor over the years. But mostly that's been upfront vetting of technical viability and developmental runway requirements, first in software and, secondarily, in the hardware space.

If you're in the PNW region it'd be fun (for me, at least) to get together and chat a bit. And otherwise, and assuming I can wiggle out of my travel commitments for a couple of days if your'e in LA for the meet ((already have flights and rooms booked) to chat a bit there. Even if it's only academic/war-stories.

Incidentally, won't hurt my feelings any to kill the thread; was supposed to be a post-rando-asspocalypse (I don't really view myself as anything more than a rando here, yet, anyway; I am decidedly new here after all) bit of fun (and distraction from one of the hardest DAC comparison write-ups I've ever had to tackle). This wound up being a lot more narcissistic and unintentionally mysterious than I intended.

Even being English, and a confirmed IT Crowd fan, I'm lost there.

So ... I think I am clearly missing something and ... I am out.

@Torq you've always come across as knowledgeable and sensible to me on here, but as you'll know, in the UK we call this "willy waving". Going for man of the year or something?

Oh, this is way too easy. You're an underwear model, right.

    Or an astrophysicist for Boeing.

Not really; I was going for self-deprecating/obvious exaggeration and farcical/humorous, which is why I had put the comment at the bottom that an undisclosed number of the statements were likely to be utter bollocks.

But as I already said, I missed the mark on that quite spectacularly - aimed for funny, landed on stupid, as it were.

I'll figure out something else for giving away the Modi Multibit (or whatever).
