The one thing I didn't get was the hate for OJ, and to a lesser extent Hands and Ultrabike. Hate for me, I get that too. But OJ, Hands, and Ultrabike? Really?

LOL. Mid 2000s chan was the golden age. Scum of the interwebs. In comparison, today's version is cleaner than a priest on Sunday.

I always giggle when reading IF comments as well. Something about the format...combined with the level of butthurt. IF comments are where all the people with no friends go.

Haha, classic boards in the late 90s. Well thinking about it, internet has been an integral part of me for more than two decades (nearly three even), I think I could handle the worse sides of it pretty well, just shook the head and move on.
I'll fight back, gun blazing if the argument is in my native tongue though.:p

Guess some of us here are parents, right? Honestly I still have no clue how the heck I'll ever prepare my kids for the net considering how early is the exposure to the internet happens nowadays.

Hey! CS and SBAF have that power over my purchasing decision! Thanks for that actually, hehe!

    U mean DrWho2? That's good 'ol 13MH13.

He is in a weird crusade against (or for?) Alexa and thinks web pages are big business. He has been banned from almost everywhere. AFAIK even managed to get banned from IF.

Dude is a bit incoherent. Possible it is Dale Thorn, but could also be Dale's pet.

Most other folks hopefully will relax and maybe even join again when they cool down. Or not. Impossible to tell.

Well, there's one name on Purrin's list that I get on fine with at other places... but that is the way of the internet, and some forums I actually like for being able to tear each others' throats out on one subject, and be mates on another.

If I go to sites like IF, I read the articles. I know I am probably being unfair to many, but public-access blog/news/etc sites that allow comments tend to fall to a lowest common denominator. Who the hell reads the comments on YouTube after their first experience? Or British (and probably other, but that's my nationality) newspaper-story comments? When the BBC had all news item to comment, it attracted such trash that there was a whole website (something like "speak ur brainz") that generated spoof "typical" BBC comments. Very funny too.

EDIT: This is a slur on Inner Fidelity. It was thoughtless rather than intentional, but I apologise and wish I hadn't posted it.

    You, they hate. Sorry!
But utltrabike, not at all. In fact, after reading the posts on IF, I felt like @ultrabike should take a pit-stop as the next GOP speaker, on his way to the White House. There's some shit that needs fixing.

On a separate note, like @Pyruvate, I too miss Tony Kaz on IF. I think Tyll told him to stop posting. I see him on the HF forum, usually in the Schiit threads. He seems like a nice guy but a bit emotionally pumped :headbang:

Tony has issues with ... coherence. Also, with posting in correct threads. Also, possibly, grip on reality. Sometimes I wonder if he is a prototype and we are all subjects in a Turing test. That said, I ALWAYS look forward to wtf he decides to type.

I have to admit, I laughed a lot because of your metaphor. I've never seen that particular one used to describe a problematic forum member.

Tyll made a comment like Tony I think you need to post less, and he hasn't posted since. Feels bad man.

Tyll was right, IF does not need higher (random) noise to signal ratio.
Tony can have his stage of irrelevance on the HF schiit thread where insanity is easily blocked.

I never understood why the old forum had such a bad rep in the first place. The environment definitely discouraged talking out of your butt, because people would call you out for doing so, but it never struck me as unfriendly. Maybe a bit rowdy at times, but not unfriendly. At least, not by default. Most of the nastiness I saw was backlash in response to something rude/condescending. Then whoever started it would play the victim and never return. I never had access to the shoutbox though, so I have no clue what that was like.

Like Jexby said, he was only asked to post less, not banned or anything along those lines. But I do kind of miss the random insanity from crazy Tony...lol

I took a screen shot of that for a co-worker I know and trust (Jon Iverson). He found it illuminating. I'd love to see a new one after a bit of dialog.

Please PM me if you've go known aliases. I don't ban many, but him I would in a heartbeat.

No shit. G. has been solidly contributing on the (shit for structure) IF forums. I really don't have time to participate there. He's helped a shitload of people.

    Thanks G.

Don't know about other places, but I think IF has pretty high quality comments. Sure there's noise, but it's usually pretty good stuff.

Yeah, I didn't want him to stop, I just wanted him to stop replying to f'ing everything.
I knew he'd take it a bit hard, but I didn't think he'd stop posting.
Signal to noise is better though without him; I want people to be interested in the comments.
I think it's a good place for enthusiasts to have a strong voice.

BTW, speaking of that, I'm about to post an HE400S review, and SBAF is linked to heavily.
For good reason, I got way more good info from your handful of two-page threads than I got from the 150 behemoth at HF.

Oh, and thanks for reading, guys. I'll keep at it as best I can.

Can't wait for your HE400S review Tyll. I'm about to purchase either an HD600 or HD650 and I know you said that you thought the HE400S can best it. I don't think it will keep me from getting either one of these phones since they are so well renowned and are quite possibly some of the most well engineered headphones ever (Sennheiser really knows there stuff).

I have to agree Tony was causing a lot of noise in your comments section but he seemed like a really good guy and some of his comments were interesting to hear, in particular he brought some good points out of Bob Katz who really seemed to take the time to respond to his comments. All in all a good guy that just seemed to be a little overly ambitious in his posting in the comments.

Keep up the good work Tyll you seem to do one of the best jobs of both reviewing and moderating your comments and forum.

Edit: Woohoo the HE400S review is up!

We can do it if it's done the right way - with proper tone and not in a mean-spirited way - yet also not holding back criticisms. The heavy shilling in this industry / hobby is disturbing. I won't start such a thread, but I won't stop one either.

I'd like to see a thread where the site they review for is broken out. Maybe not a poll, but some examples of the crap or good that happens with each reviewer.

Maybe we can have a subsection, and make a thread for each prominent review site and its members? XD

I think the Innerfidelity comments section is pretty active but no one seems to post anything on a consistent basis on the sister sites.
Some fun stuff- I was looking at a couple articles on Sterophile and guess whose name i came across in the comments section- Dale Thorn! some of the replies to his comments were rather colorful.
And like the curious but bored guy that i am, I googled him and saw he was on headfonia.com giving gear advice.
