I probably missed them. But you know what I mean. If anyone did that here, they would have been creamed, instantly and six times over.

Time for a very old (over 50 years?) joke...

    Q. How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb?
    A. Just one. But the light bulb has to really want to change.
Amir does not want to change.

It's 2AM, I'm working on a take-home mock exam, and this made me burst out laughing loudly enough to get shushed. Maybe I'm just tired. Thaaaanks :p

No joke is old to someone who's not heard it before, and hell, that was a good one.

Amir: "I have measurements showing that my lightbulb will never need changing. It is the ultimate, perfect lightbulb. And I can tell you this thousands of times in millions of words. I've already started....to be continued. For ever."

By the way. If he ever does turn up here (one day he might run out of internet), I most strongly recommend that nobody takes his bait. Respond with one bout of extreme abuse and then ignore him. On no account attempt to actually communicate.

I remember the hype over "Who shot J.R.?". when I was a kid. This is kind of like that.

You certainly create great content and know a lot (I really liked all your content over at reddit and linustech), but you don't generate shitstorms that seemed to follow him. Maybe it's me, but I've moved to Europe? I also hate Schiit beacause they do what they like, while I'm stuck with too little time to do what I like.

Subjectively, if I had the device and I liked it, I would not worried about the amiraphs at all. If this gear delivers me the best audio experience then who cares.
From scientific point of view, this guy is disgusting. I think that his parents did a poor job of raising him and his university supervisor didn't teach him basics of logic, scientific method and ethics.
Bottom line, I can NOT recommend amiraphs or amirinion as a source of trustworthy unbiased and valid information.

I have to wonder how often someone who owns and enjoys a Bifrost Multibit/Yggdrasil/[your gear here] reads an Amir article, succumbs to their audio nervosa (is that what we call it?), starts to doubt what they'd loved the day before, and quietly sells it/sets it aside. I have a haunting suspicion that this is a real and understated danger Amir pSeudoscience Rants poses to the hobby.

We (I?) only ever hear from the people who are firmer in their conviction, but it feels like a rookie mistake to only listen to the loudest fans in the community.

IMO, he's not Nwavguy, he's a greater evil.
Archimago is Nwavguy, Amir is...Amir, which is even worse.

I know of at least one person that sold a Schiit multibit DAC for one of the better measuring D/S DACs. They weren't trashing Schiit either, just did it quitely, but im pretty sure it was because of ASR measurements. I do hope they enjoy the change though.

I started reading ASR awhile back before this broohaha and I assumed his measurements were okay. When his Schiit measurements came out, they had me doubting Schiit a bit and briefly thought that maybe Schiit really were audio cons.

I investigated a bit deeper though and started seeing that he was being deliberately misleading. It wasn't easy because not a lot of people have the gear or technical ability or interest in measuring these particular DACs.

I know we keep joke calling him a cult leader, but having an expensive AP scope that no one else can buy actually is similar to claiming you have 'secret' knowledge that no one else has and you are the only one with THE TRUTH.

FWIW IMO Archimago is in no way NWAVGuy. You're confusing objectivist and psycho.

I would not be pleased if I were AP. He makes AP gear look bad or defective compared to AverLAB and Prismsound.

Which is which? I actually like Archimago's work debunking MQA, and pretty much agree with him re same. Not the first time I have agreed with a psycho I guess, assuming he is your psycho. I assume he was the objectivist in your comment?

Sorry, I tried to find a good zombie horse meme. Instead I found a cow meme because we are out of (dead) horses.

Back to the topic at hand. Which of these two people is the dead horse? Additionally who is the (almost) dead cow?

I've lost touch since my interest in audio waned a lot (down to one active forum!) but I like a lot of Archimago's work, and I think he is one of the good guys. Debunking of usb cables, MQA, etc on the one side, but not throwing away the record deck because digital must be better QED. I think he's pretty balanced.

I've only looked at his blog; I have not seen him on forums, and I don't know what he's like in that situation. Just a regular member with some genuine techie knowledge, is what I would expect? Amir is not a regular guy, and the validity of his knowledge is in doubt.

Amir and Archimago are very different.

I thought I'd point out (oh... again, I think) that I've only met (online) Amir once. Yes, I do have strong feelings from just one encounter. It was an encounter that went on for many, many pages and it was horrible. That's the problem with hydrogenaud.io: not that it is super-crazy-objective, but that too many people think that, if they explain things in just the right way, even someone like Amir can be educated. He can't.

Don't try to teach a hippopotamus to sing.
It is a waste of time, and only annoys the hippopotamus.

Archimago posts on computer audiophile, which is amusing, as it is a site where the lunatics are definitely running the asylum.
