Q: Why did the solipsist cross the road?
A: What road? I don't see a road.
Where are parts 1 through 3, and does this really warrant its own thread?
No, and yes, perhaps.
It depends who you ask.
Ironic that you refer to 'solipsist' and create this thread.
I would recommend this other thread for your future comedic adventures, but based on the title of that thread, I'm not if sure you're compatible:
Said in jest of course (sort of, not really).
In fact, it's not ironic. I know why you misunderstand and think it is, but you're wrong. If you want to know why it isn't ironic, well, you'll just have to work that out for yourself.
I like how we have collectively agreed never to speak of part 4, or even to acknowledge its existence.
This is the problem with solipsists. They are simply oblivious to self evident and/or inconvenient truths.
(Thank you, Kunlun, for the most entertaining response so far).
Apart from my own replies to my own posts. And replies. Obviously.
Part 4 was like The Godfather after part 2.
That's mere assertion, AKA unsubstantiated opinion. But thank you for introducing unintended irony into the discussion. Being unknowingly ironic is so much more amusing than the earlier rather weak attempt to accuse this fair author of the same.
So I guess the real question is, Why did the solipsist create a thread?
(Which I'm guessing is what @rlow thought was ironic but you don't)
The thread was not created by a solipsist. It was created to appeal to the solipsist and invite comment from the same. The one truly interesting thing about the solipsist is the inability to differentiate broad comment from personal remark or, more particularly, the subsequent compulsion to react.
What scares me the most is that you're starting to make sense. I blame the wine.
I guess this thread is just a bunch of me talking to myself. Booooring.
I've always considered myself a figment of my own imagination. I was glad to meet the solipsist and hoped he'd confirm this. Unfortunately he was too busy denying the existence of the road and the car racing towards him at 100 miles per hour.
