Knowing your preferences, I don't think it is worth your time. I, and others, did not like the harsh high mids and honestly I thought it was only slightly better than a Lyr 3. Remember, you need to insure it for $2000 for shipping.

I think the amp might react or sound pretty different to different loads. It seems likely given the wide range of impressions. And it does seem like the amp was designed for orthos.

I'd suggest asking @julie if it can simply end with you... the $100 ask was to initially fund the purchase and reduce SBAF's risk, so Julie or Marv should really be the ones to say whether it can be waived for a former gear master trying to fund a start-up... :D

Ok so I could understand my post feeling weird to some people, I could pay the $100 and I'd be ok it’s not about that. I just don’t feel right paying for a loaner after working as hard as I did as gear master. it was not a paid position and it was an enormous amount of work. I don't think any former gear master should pay for a loaner. But it's fine I didn’t mean to create drama. It’s just an amp.

I'm just interested in hearing it but don't feel comfortable paying. Which is fine if that means not hearing it. Like I said, just an amp.

    cheers

Super weird, you were almost fully banned from loaners after several things showed signs of being taken apart.

Shawn, it's me, Whitney. Please remember who I am and think about what you're accusing me of. I've never taken a loaner apart in my life. I have only ever given to this site out of love for what it is and love for the members here and love for this hobby. I was gearmaster for over a year and ran this program completely on my own and never "took anything apart" then either.

Please remember who I am and what I have given to this site before making such hateful assumptions and public accusations.

Keep in mind that this loaner was never going to get off the ground until a group of interested people got together and decided to scrape up money to pay for a little bit more than half of it. No gearmaster (Jeremy, Prashant, Van, Dan, others in between) has ever asked for special consideration. The job is thankless and a position of service, not authority or high esteem. The perks are being able to represent SBAF in an official capacity to ask for gear from manufacturers and maybe getting first dibs should anything be sold (or be left with us under the condition that it not be sold).

I don't think it's right that you slide under this after the fact. The organization for this loaner was public and happened months ago. Leadership needs to set a good example.

It's hurtful that you do not counter @zerodeefex 's claims that I have "taken apart loaners". You know me better than this Marv. I have had your back through thick and thin no matter what, and I have known you longer than any other member on this site including all staff. I knew you when you were a "rando" to this community and we happen to have tables next to each other at a meet and talked non stop about our love for the Joe Grado HP1000. Do you remember that Marv?

I have never done anything for SBAF (nor anything else in my life) our of want for "authority or esteem" despite you repeating this ad nauseam and what you seem to have come to think of me personally. I worked as gearmaster because I love this site, I love this hobby, I love music, and I love the members here, and wanted to try to make this a better headphone forum for the members here. Keep in mind how limited my energy is. I made SBAF a huge priority in my life for a long time. And I did not get kickbacks except for an Andromeda 2020 that we got for free from Ken and which I have since given away for free to another wonderful SBAF'er. Which is fine, it's not why I did the work.

Once again, you should know me better than this.

It's just an amp, so whatever you say. I'm not trying to "slide in", I don't feel comfortable paying for a loaner after doing all the work that I did for the loaner program. And I thought that would be a no brainer, I really did not anticipate all this drama or I would not have asked or I would have sent a pm. But you can just count me out and we can move on.

I love SBAF, I love all the members here, I love music, I love the beauty of music reproduced through the headphones I have made, I have nothing but love for everything and everyone here.

    Whitney

More than anyone else, you keep reminding everyone what you've done for SBAF and how much you love it. Only you. No one else helping run the site has ever said such things, even once. They don't even ask for a simple thanks.

Dozens of people behind the scenes, making things happen, fixing things. Some high-rollers. Others put in blood and sweat and deal with bullshit so readers are never even aware of it. I am busy and not in a good mood right now. I do not have time. My only interest is creating content. Having to get involved in dealing with shit like this makes me want to shut SBAF down. I'd rather make a stupid audio version of High Snobiety and make money from it.

Azimuth already very politely indirectly (in a very British way) already told you no. You did not like the answer and pulled the special considerations for gearmaster line again in post #44.

So y'all, the amp arrived at my workplace Wednesday and I'm not showing up there until Friday. My in-laws are here for awhile (seemingly an increasing amount of time) and I can listen with them here but it's weird because I have to basically exclude them and tell them why. They didn't give us a lot of notice for this visit but I love em and it's all good.

So I'm basically at a point that I basically ask for a few extra days or just mail the amp off to the next guy. As shitty as my review skills are, I totally get it if I should just mail off to the next guy. I can potentially put the amp into my system tomorrow but also my system has just been background music for the last however many days because my normal experience is fucked because of their presence. What do y'all want me to do?

A more days is fine. The other option will require shipping which will be a few more days anyway. Best that it stays with you.
