Apologies for not mentioning this earlier, but please take me off the list.
Lyr 3 on it's way to @Ray
Sorry but I’ve been busy. Received Lyr3 from @cskippy last week and will be shipping out soon as I get postal info
Lyr3 on its way to @thegunner100
I received the loaner from @thegunner100. Wasn't sure if it was better to raise this here or in the dedicated Lyr 3 thread. I fired up the Ly3 last night for the first time. Very nice. But I noticed some crackling noise coming from the right driver. I know tube amps can give off a hiss or hum, but this was more of a staticky sound and only coming on the right side. You cannot hear it so much on low gain, but definitely on high gain. I listen loud enough that it is mostly drowned out when listening to music, but on acoustic or classical it becomes noticeable.
I checked multiple headphones and swapped cables and it definitely is coming form the amp. I thought that maybe I had not pushed in the tube enough, so put it back in today and made sure the fit was good and tight, but still had the same issue. This was with the stock tube, so I may try one of the other included ones. Any thoughts from others who had this loaner or are just experienced with this amp (or tube amps more generally).
It could possibly be the tube. I didn't have a problem with the Tung Sol or one of the Sylvanias.
I switched to one of the Sylvanias and it seemed better, but not necessarily gone altogether. But I need to listen again when less tired. I will try to rotate through all three tubes and figure out what was going on. Thanks.
Any word on this? Was there any change with different tubes?
I have been sick and unable to really listen. I do think the one tube change helped a bit. Also please PM me your address so I can send along to you.
On its way to @Jinxy245 .
Still had hum in right channel with the two tubes I tried. I did not try the third tube at all.
Received from @Colgin
It's off to @ButtUglyJeff
In my haste to ship, I forgot signature confirmation...my bad there.
I'll assume responsibility if there's a problem.
FYI, the OTK tube felt loose in the housing. I don't THINK it affected the performance...
Lyr3 safe and sound in ButtUglyVille. Already enjoying it, and its barely warmed up.
I'm glad your mentioned the tube wobble @Jinxy245 , seems fine thou...
The Lyr3 is at the UPS Store waiting to go to @porkfriedpork , @zonto had to pass because of his beloved Yggdrasil getting its upgrade. Hopefully he'll get it back soon so he can jump back in easily.
I made the call to double box. That poor Schiit box is being held together with the layers of packing tape from all its travels so far.
The tube socket has an odd slight wobble, but the tube sets well and it didn't seem to affect the playability...
Just to update - this is on the way to @I_want_all_the_tacos
Off to @Mystic
Lyr 3 arrived safely.
