MD says they're fixing the pricing

And then the price bug, I'm not going to send a bunch of mails back and forth to get half my money back.

 

People, if you want it, I'd say join the drop. MD is trustworthy in my books judging from the past.

And please don't turn this into ordering/tracking thread.

Price is apparently now fixed. Can anyone please confirm?

 

Woke up late (right now) and was able to get one. Price was fixed $399 (tax for California). Still available as of 6:24 am pst.

 

Almost July so i am out until I see 2nd hand.

I do still wonder how this compares to the BW2.
That's about the only reason I would buy one for.

I paid using a credit card, so I wasn't charged immediately. I just see a $1 charge that they refunded.

 

I’m guessing the pricing issue and the long lead time have scared a lot away, as only 115 have been sold.

Edit: Numbers going up but it’s not a blitz like many here thought it would be.

 

I’d say 115 out of 375 available after a few hours is pretty good.

 

no one cares if you decide not to buy due to the wait, lots of items on MD have a long wait. Post that shit on your status if you really want people to know, geez.

 

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s a failure or anything like that. But people were speculating that since approximately 1,500 people signed up as interested, that those who want one many not even be able to get it. It’s really easy to click the interested button, not as easy to click the button that takes $400 away from you with nothing to show for it for seven months (and that’s not a knock on Massdrop, at this point the long waits are just part of the experience, I’m just saying I think a lot of people were interested enough to be reminded by an email but not ultimately interested enough to buy, and MD probably chose a good starting amount for a first drop of these).

 

To clarify, price is fixed now, it was messed up when the drop first opened, but was fixed within 15 or 20 mins at most.

I bought a 110V version for $428.99 (I'm in Cal so everything is taxed lol)

It seems they are using the drop for funding, so they sell a bunch of units and collect the money. Then they use this money to buy all the parts they need, and maybe to pay people to assemble the amps.

If this is really 90%ish as good as a ZDS, could we really expect anything to come out better than it for $399 (for Senns)? Maybe a Valhalla 3?

 

Okay, you guys have dragged my curiosity over the edge. I’ve read through everything, thank you for all your impressions. There’s not a great deal of info directly relevant to my current chain yet. I’m using Eitr -> DEQ2496 -> Gungnir Multibit -> Mj2 w/ WE396a + power conditioners. I have the HD650, HD800, TH900, and Utopia. Pretty much exclusively use the Utopia now, and will eventually sell off the other three.

I’m happy with this setup. But I’ve never heard a full tube amp, and have been long curious about EC and DNA stuff, but put off by the prices. I’m almost justifying getting one as an educational exercise.

What can the ZDT Jr do for me vs the Mj2?
