Do Gulnir multibit and rag 1 have excellent synergy?
    What about headphones?

Yep, I meant to post here too, but you already linked to it.

But, if you want a quick summary:

    1. We suck and are late at photos and AP test reports. They'll be up soonish.
    2. Ragnarok 2 is fully capable of turning your IEMs into smoking piles of slag, now that we know it's putting out 28W into 32 ohms (RMS, both channels driven). A chapter covering this surprise result, and some other hilarious glitches, will hit next week.

Bonus plot of Ragnarok driving no load at all, and 32 ohm loads (holy crap almost no difference.) Plot is in Vrms. Loaded plot crosses the 1% line at 30Vrms. P = V^2/R, you do the math.

I see that it only comes as "just an amp" or "fully loaded". I get the reasoning; but will I be able to add a phono module myself down the road? And will it run with just one or the other?

I have a Yggdrasil, I'll never want the DAC; but boxes of vinyl in the basement call to me occasionally.

We sell all the modules separately, under "Upgrades."

We just don't want to have 1000000000 SKUs. Helps keep production (and shipping, and our distributors) sane.

Should be enough for all but the most exacting members of the playnar crowd at least.

Two questions, can I put an Yggdrasil on top or bottom of it and I'm guessing these power the Hifiman HE6se with ease?

Yggdrasil needs to go on bottom if you stack them at all.

Jason's advised against stacking heavyweight stuff like this on top of each other, cause even a slight mishap could cause a pretty deep gouge if any sharp edges touch any surface. They're really meant for separate compartments on a rack

Yes I also remember Jason mentioning that with respect to the Rag 2 causing damage to the Yggdrasil.

How is THD vs freq? I'm not sure it's in the PDF.

@schiit Thanks for the technical information posted on Head-Fi today. I've linked the posts above. When convenient, would you mind answering a few follow-up questions:
    1. Any chance you could share speaker output power measurements of Ragnarok 2 (high gain), similar to those shared for Vidar here (source)? I remember early discussions that Ragnarok 2 would have the same power ratings at 4 and 8 ohms as Ragnarok 1, despite being more powerful on the bench.
    2. A Head-Fi user has recently been posting about some problems with the preouts on their Ragnarok 2 and some potentially related buzzing in the amp. They noticed that the preouts (to which they hooked up their subwoofers) were only working when the Ragnarok 2 was in headphone-only mode. Can you please confirm in which modes the preouts on Ragnarok 2 are active? Ragnarok 1 preouts only worked when in speaker mode, which seems to make more sense.
    3. What is the output impedance of Ragnarok 2? (not listed on the specs page)
    4. Can you confirm at which gain level the Ragnarok 2 preamp measurements were taken? Apologies if I missed in the posted document (plus I noticed that three separate sets of measurements were provided for Freya S).

Said buzzing unit is on its way back to Schiit (currently out for delivery) and a replacement is expected to arrive tomorrow. I can provide an update both here and on Head-Fi.

Edit: To clarify, the preout/subwoofer is working whenever the headphone out is on, not just in headphone only mode.

    1. Actually, the speaker power measurements are there, just like Vidar--it's just that the output is shown in Vrms (like Vidar). P= V^2/R, so it's about 72W into 8 ohms and 105W into 4 ohms at 1% THD.

    2. Pre-outs are active with the headphone output engaged.

    3. The output impedance is actually listed on the specs page, in terms of damping factor. Ragnarok's output impedance is less than 0.01 ohms.

    4. Preamp measurements are at a gain of 1, as you'd expect for preamp operation.

I have magnepan wall mount speakers and have to use a sub. Can I go preouts to crossover and then back in to the preamp in to run the highs?? Thanks in advance.

I think you'd have to either connect the Maggies directly to the Rag speaker outputs (full range) and then run the Rag pre-outs to sub, or depending on the sub you may be able to run speaker out to speaker inputs on sub, and then the speaker outs on sub to Maggies if you want to use the Xover for both sub and Maggies.

There are advantages and disadvantages of both ways, you'd probably need to try both to see what sounds better.

The rag 2 sounds like end game for me. I'm old school and run one amp for mid to highs to free my main speakers from playing bass and another amp for bass to a Decware home made sub.. It sounds like one way or another I could make it work. One thing too is I'm not sure I'm suppose to run the Maggies full range because they only play down to 100hz.

I received a replacement unit today and am happy to report that it appears to be fully functional. No buzzing even at high gain. Headphones with either output, speakers, single ended sub via pre-out all work.
