Is there any reason (other than portability) to choose the old LC over the LC-X? AFAIK there was a design flaw in LC v1 that was corrected in v2. The design was further improved in the LC-X.

 

No idea. Just thought it was a good price and know some folks crave that amp. I saw a post yesterday saying that the LC was significantly better than LCX, although there was nothing in the post to substantiate that opinion.

not the proper forum but the question was asked

not a design flaw but some people insisted on being stupid and plugged balanced headphones and SE in at the same time - this unbalanced the output bias and the amp didn't like it. The LC is a much better engineered amp than the LC-X although the circuit design is essentially the same, the additional cost of the LC pays for that aspect - designed to be a transportable amp with high SQ.

I’m not that familiar on Stratus’s used price but its 240v , not that often i saw one.

Price is pretty standard for something that good and that has a wait time of a year. We always see EC amps sold for a couple hundred off of the list price. Only downside of that Stratus is that it probably doesn't have the latest revision from Donald but I'm sure its mighty fine regardless
