I was looking for comparisons with other cans on different sites, read the SBAF preview thread for the nth time for measurements, then noticed the ports on the pair Marvey pictured. Looked up other photos online to confirm, realized my pair might have been a tiny bit bassier than intended, and then took an X-Acto to solve it :P

@Hands this would be a manufacturer? so the measurements won't be easily available that is. I've always wondered why more people don't do this when measuring gear, but I suppose not all cans have easily swappable pads.

Yeah, manufacturer, so not publicly available. Would be interesting to do as an enthusiast but can be tricky.

I've held off getting an EARS rig, mostly cuz of finances but also because making my own measurement setup sounds more fulfilling. Also, flat plate would allow for padless measurements.

There is a reason why I never visit local forum, and prefer to visit SBAF instead. I am embarrassed by that guy. That stack isnt the craziest thing from this guy tho. Nowadays he post his stack with some USD 200 sticker and claim that it improved the SQ of his rig. The madness I tell you

@WNovizar Well my local forum isn't too bad. It does get really FotM-y especially around lower-tier stuff, but you get good ears and awesome gear too, plus some stuff under SBAF's radar.

It's all cool on the vinyl threads. Maybe the lack of ear-bleeding listener fatigue? Or the endless, ritualistic cleaning, adjusting and tweaking has numbed us to the outside world.

@powermatic vinyl requires actual brain power to set up, as opposed to plug and play (plus drivers/registry stuff in rare cases) for digital. Too much brain power required to run multiple processes I guess :)))

Pads turned to mush, one channel dead (hopefully a cable thing), might make for fun tinkering along with the Grados I may or may not be getting to mod.

Haha, I'm actually just in the market for a pair of cheap cans I can try some materials out on. I'm considering Grado because they've got massively shelved-up treble that'd be interesting to tackle. I like my Fostexes and Klipsch too much for experimentation XD

I have hated most Grado's I have heard. That is until I heard a pair of SR80s modded by dBel84. They were shockingly good. I definitely don't think you need to go high end to get some really good sound.

@fraggler That's all I needed to hear! Just wasn't sure since most reports of "great Grado mods" have been from, well, strangers. Gonna be sourcing some SR60es for guinea pigging I guess, grazie!

@Poleepkwa I have! I admit a great deal of ignorance in those, though, and have only started reading up on them recently (i.e. a few hours ago). I'd like to ask for suggestions in a thread, but I want to have a hard budget first so as to not waste anyone's time, haha.

Incidentally, I also have very modest (i.e. crap) upstream gear, so I'm thinking a better amp is also in the cards before I really invest in good speakers. Sigh, I need a much better-paying job XD

Sigh, realistically speaking cash would be much preferable, but I have been wanting a nice speaker setup myself. I've been sleeping on it (no, not the speakers you dinguses :P), and I'll likely let go of the Klipsch headphones if I do get them (owner also interested in trading both for my headphones, which was odd). Agh, might as well look up schematics DIY the whole kit and kaboodle as a summer project

I know how you feel. I ordered my Eikon blind (deaf?) and loved it totally. After I hear an Auteur at CanJam & I'm leaning more open HPs I'm struggling with selling just the Elear & 2F for something like an AFO, or sell all 3 (including Ike) for an Auteur. Damn this hobby.

Not sure when I'll get to try it, but I'll report back on how much you need to get one like, last week after I do :P

After watching the replay I feel some Aussies also behaved abhorrently. Both sides should have handled things better imo.

There were also some Filo players that appeared to try to protect the Aussie player being bashed by the mob. Should be more focus on these good samaritans rather than blind nationalism.

That was a shit show. Some people showing that it started at the layup line before the game, but the fact that the Aussies were putting the beat down on them probably made the Filipinos more salty.

@Stride Agreed, there were claims that the Aussie team were riling Gilas up during the warm-ups. Still doesn't excuse our team for acting like asshats.

I gave A+ on windows 10 a shot last night. The extremely limited options makes it a non-starter for me. Fb2k with the DarkOne4Mod v1 skin is miles ahead.

@44100Hz nope, nothing that I can discern after I noticed A+ was running louder— what tipped me off were those absolutely visceral bass hits at the end of Giorgio by Moroder, which sounded comparatively anemic out of f2k with my pot in the same position.

@LetMeBeFrank agreed, it's a good "set and play" program with a neat look, but that's about the long and short of it. Perhaps a paid version comes with more bells and whistles, but I can get those for free on f2k :))
