@e.schell Given how much Vram some games take, 20gb 3080 would have been amazing. Understandable its canceled since they can't even keep up with 10gb demand!
@zerodeefex Tell MSI to hurry up and make my card!
@neogeosnk Was hoping to build soon with a Zen 3 but thats probably going to end up being just like the 3080 situation. I will build with whatever I can get my hands on.
Nice! A few friends have been getting lucky on 3090. One snagged a MSI Ventus and then an EVGA FTW3 which he really wanted. Offered to sell me his Ventus for what he paid but I passed. I didn't want a 3090 considering the jump in price vs 3080. He sold it pretty much a day later.
@fraggler The 3080 20gb and 3070 16gb in my opinion is more than likely just pushed into Q1 2020. With Covid and unprecedented demand for new GPUs, hard to meet demand with current supply.
As gungho as I was to get in on a launch card, I have spent so much money on a different passion (leatherworking) that waiting until the inevitable Super variants (with hopefully more VRAM) makes sense for me.
I was waiting for the 20 gig videocard... since nothing is available pushed me to the 16 gig 6800xt or 6900xt if the price is reasonable. We will know tomorrow. Mainly want it for emulating in 8k anyway.
There's rumors of a 3080Ti 12/24gb surfacing again. Amd has got them worried it seems. I'll get amd anyway since it's already plug and play on my linux box.
Yeah, I am glad I got my 3080 order way back when. I have been trying since launch with even entering multiple Discords to try and snag one as soon as they are listed and I get pinged without much results to show for it. Least with CP2077 delay, I got more time.
Hopefully tomorrow the AMD cards are legit/competitive and takes some pressure off demand.
Only thing tying me to Nvidia is gsync. I’m fine with selling my monitor and buying a freesync monitor. As always, nvidia and Not enough vram. I hope it puts a dent in their dominance
@netforce you think nvidia will release higher vram versions of their cards that quickly?
Nvidia will release a 3080 Ti with 16 gigs to compete. Gonna pick up a 6900xt if I can get one. This explains the announcement today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy-tubbJ2Vo
Hmm. So I have a GSync monitor with max refresh rate of 120. If the new AMD card can let me hit that 120, will Gsync matter? I honestly don't know how much impact it has had on my gaming.
AMD cards look pretty decent, they benchmarks they showed looked good but should take them with a grain of salt like always.
@Melvillian Expecting them likely Q1 2021 for the higher vram cards personally. Some 3080/90 dropped today on Best Buy and they sold out quite quickly. Demand will be high all around for a while.
