Thinking about this again with my conspiracy hat on:
    1) Somewhere in the illuminati clubhouse, turtle man caved and she didn't. Meanwhile turtle man is still here a little while longer... somehow... and she's gone.
    2) "Wouldn't put it past the CCP" - [self censored ;)]
    3) "CFR Member" + "Husband sits on board of Blackstone" + "ex husband was head of Lazard" + "MOAR big business connections" - because we've never seen people in the midst of money matters get hurt or disappeared over said money matters before
    4) "Rich people holiday weekend on private property with friends" and "...Autopsy was not performed..." Did those in attendance know that she was drunk or high and this was deliberately omitted for some good old "Asian people save face games?"

OTOH - bad driver stereotypes come to life may still be a valid there here:
    WSJ Article:
".........Every year, about 400 people die in motor-vehicle submersions in North America............."
"...........While making a three-point turn, she had put the car in reverse instead of drive, she said. It is a mistake she had made before with the Tesla gearshift. The car had zipped backward........"

Bottom line stands though - either way, stuff like this is why I don't trust fully electric cars, especially ones that will mostly function off of a central grid of some sort. More so when the gov seem to be the biggest ones pushing it and not natural technological advances (i.e. horse buggy vs car, steam vs gas powered engines, etc.) And to clarify, this is coming from someone who does eventually want an electric vehicle, especially for around town type stuff.

Don't know about Tesla, I expect someone here does.

With an auto transmission, this is supposed to be difficult, isn't it? I haven't driven one for over twenty years, but when I did, there was a button to press. You could not simply slip the gear into P or R.

Manual transmission... I can't say that, when manoeuvring, I haven't had a confusion and chosen the wrong gear. I've never gone more than in inch (ok, maybe two.) Especially when manoeuvring, there's likely to be something nearby to hit, and I never did. It's not like a driver zipping out onto a highway, accelerating fast --- and discovering they are going backwards instead. Now that would be baaaad.

Some models have a gear stalk on the side of the steering wheel, others use the touchscreen.

In general there are a number of different ways cars handle auto transmissions now, from touch panels to rotatory dials to levers that return a central position, to more traditional levers. It's kind of a mess. Always have to check when I rent a different car.

A lot of new cars have laminated glass on side windows too, not just the windshield.

that's definitely a bad idea. Windshield makes complete sense, but not the side windows.

Broken Car Windows of my Life...

Don't they all have some lamination? Isn't this what makes them break in reasonable safe chunks, rather than millions of blades?

No, that's a property of tempered glass, which breaks into a bunch of relatively dull small pieces rather than sharp shards.

Windshield story (because this tangent provides the only excuse I'm likely to have to tell it here):

Back in the 70s and 80s the family cars, parked on the street above the house in Wellington, were constantly being vandalized, broken into, siphoned, and occasionally stolen for joyrides by the local hoods (at least some of whom later proved to be acquaintances from school). One morning on checking on pa's old Vauxhall Viva I saw that the wipers were standing up, and presumed the kids had yet again bent them just for the hell of it.

On closer inspection though - the windshield was missing, along with its rubber surround and the enclosed steel band that tensioned it. The car's doors were still locked, so it seemed they'd had the tools and the know-how to accomplish it quickly in the dark.

Stuff like that hasn't happened up there since the 90s. No initiative, young people today.

Some people will kill for a few hundred dollars, or less even. Imagine what happens when billions of dollars are at stake.

Some people think the Clintons regularly have inconvenient people killed but never leave any useful evidence. Trump thinks he could shoot someone in public and get away with it because he is special somehow.

I know where my mastermind award goes.

    In the news today: https://apnews.com/article/angela-chao-dies-mitch-mcconnell-03f040a0ca93396a8adebc293d94f98e

The investigation by the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office concluded that Chao’s death was an “unfortunate accident” and her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the state’s legal limit.

Of course a conspiracy theory will come out of that as well o_O

Guess it was point #4 above then. Although in all serious I'm oddly relieved that it was something "easy" like this instead of "illuminati clubhouse games"

I really do not know why I should have any sympathy for said stupid rich woman getting drunk and then driving her car into a lake and dying. If she had reached the road she might have killed someone else.

Nope. I should have no sympathy at all. But I guess I'm a softy.

Yes, at a human level, I feel sympathy.
But for this class of people (the ULTRA wealthy, globalists) when they get 3x the legal limit and then kill themselves by driving into their own PRIVATE lake… not so much. I lost a co-worker and her husband to a drunk, illegal alien who crossed the centerline in Arizona and killed her and her husband on the spot. She’d been trying to get pregnant the entire 3 years she worked for me, was on artificial impregnation scenarios… had JUST found out it finally took and she was pregnant.
She quit, and went to Arizona with hubby on a vacation to celebrate… boom

I have NO sympathy for any drunk drivers; not ever. Especially rich-ass, highly privileged people who OUGHT to know better.

Asian superstitions about bad karma - sins of the family. Kennedys have suffered a lot. Many other lifetime politicians have suffered great personal tragedies.
