Yeah, it's frustrating. Been looking for a reasonably priced dap for my new Lyra 2, easier said than done. Impressions are almost worthless when everything is AWESOME!
Yeah, just want something fun to go with my HD-25s and something like the Comet or Nobel X. I love how the ZX-300 had that DAC feature for my lappy and how the Hiby does Android so all kinds of streaming are on the table. All kinds of options, and most opinions are total BS...
I'm trying to figure out how much I need to spend, to get a DAP that plays well with many IEMs and portable headphones, like my HD-25. I guess I'll call the ZX-300 my ceiling for now...
From my experience, DAPs will have a problem driving anything more than 32 ohms. Unless you want to get the Fiio X7 2nd Gen (which I would be careful, Sabre chip brightness-o-rama), then the external amp modules will drive various IEMs/Cans.
I frequently use ZX300's wireless receiver function to cover my streaming needs. Not the most convenient since you gotta bring a phone and a DAP on the go, but it works great and sounds...not bad actually. Just my $0.2. Which Hiby DAP are you looking at?
I was looking at the Hiby R6, but I'm open to anything. They just seemed to be a successful Indiegogo company that is sticking around. Man, I'm so sick of having to read about shit instead of getting to listen to first. So jelly of the Tokyo/Hong Kong crowd...
Sorry if you've known about this already, but the Hiby R6 has the output impedance of 10 ohms I believe, so it may not pair well with some BA IEMs. Hiby R3 seems interesting though: <1-ohm OI, smaller size, at half a price of R6 but with less juice. Might interest you! Wish I had a chance to try both too, sound like neat little devices.
