News in 2020... Hearing all these things happening I think that different religious teachings (or similar) can help people. They talk about meditation these days, but that's what people have always done to an extent. Whatever works and helps. Need to own it. Drama, bad news, more drama. Don't want to get into that cycle.
Everybody is tired. I would like to protest but I have a job so I can pay my bills and build a future. Covid19 will still linger until at least 2021 so stay healthy. Racism? Well have fun with that, that is a matter of the mind and some people do not want to learn...
These police abusing their power for petty brutality should go into the frontline in a warzone and serve there for a year or so. Too much pointless misery in the world to do these acts.
I have a funny feeling some of the police here responsible for brutality were on the front line of a warzone before becoming police officers...I personally know of one locally (trained jiu jitsu with them), that you do not want to back talk if you get pulled over, very short explosive fuse.
I am talking about beating some 40 year old women on the ground for crossing a street and hitting people in the face randomly like some shitty bully. Go to therapy...
"...the police here response for brutality were on the front line of a warzone before becoming police officers..." This. The militarization of our police, particularly from 9/11 on (training/tactics) and the heavy recruitment of veterans from our forever war(s) in the middle east, has lead to a fundamental "us vs. them" in local PD's...
@JK47 , you were familiar with knee on belly (training), knee on sternum (real fight), now you know of knee on neck - a high percentage move when you already have em cuffed...yikes!
I have had a huge problem with lack of external police accountability since 2010 when I became aware of how bad it really was. Breonna's death really irked me... but it is far from the first no-knock raid gone bad (victims of all colors and ages... including infants) where NOTHING happened to the police despite gross errors/incompetence (whereas we'd be in jail for 20+ years).
As for police with the wrong traits or behaving badly - those are not things I want in people with the legal authority to put my life on hold (arrest, jail, make me spend $$$ on legal fees, etc.) and with a state monopoly on the use of force. Military service is no excuse - lots of front line guys come back not a-holes.
The conversation regarding the quality of personnel a Law Enforcement department employs was already discussed. Basically they don't go and scout the best of the best, they take whatever they can get to fill their budget needs. PTSD is no joke and affects everyone differently, for better or worse.
