Altenativelly, would you instead own a modest stereo or ... go listen, for a small fee, a true mega $$$ hi-end system once or twice a month?

Idk about car but I definitely want to own the stereo. It's about the tweaking and personalizing of the sound Iike. Plus, audio stores don't open at 1 AM.

Own the car. The amount of fun with the nicer car is only slightly higher, but the amount of time you can have fun with the cheaper owned car is much more

Sunday car because ease of access, pride of ownership, and no fear of pushing it hard because I own it.

Own. And drive it every day, not just on Sunday.

I long ago decided that fun/$ calculations favor the economy car/motorcycle solution over any car I will ever be able to afford. Ymmv ofc.

Rent the super car every once in a while because it’ll be cheaper in the long run than the upkeep and maintenance on a car I’m only using occasionally. But I’d rather own a reasonably good stereo than pay to hear a super high end one because I can tailor the owner stereo to my exact preferences.

Owned a WRX and a Miata (FM Turbo and n/a). Those are golden years. No regrets at all.

Renting these days can also mean a form of "leasing." That being said, owning the vehicle would have my priority. When you work for the things you love and/or appreciate, you tend to enjoy them more.

Rent you get none of the expenses. Kind of like renting a boat. Although it might be just as expensive depending on the amount of days per year you are going. I could have just as much fun driving all day in an MX-5 as a would a Corvette or supercar, just because on normal roads you can't experience the full supercar experience unless on a track.

Buy a Sundy car, preferably a Corvette, and mod it to make a shit load of power.

Assuming the rental place has access to "actual" supercars, I guess it depends on how much money I have or don't have and the roads nearby. In some conditions or areas, the super cars really aren't that much better than the Sunday car.

As it stands now in my life, own a Sunday car. And drive it more than 1x a week.

Actually, being a gelatinous mass /full time/ wouldn't require my lifestyle to be adjusted much.

Does the gelatinous mass dissolve all ferrous weapons? Can it only be dissipated by fire? D&D rules!

Fire is no problem to gelatinoids. We just through a leg at it and put it out. Growing a new leg is easy enough, and anyway, we don't use them much.

Cue the blancmange competing at Wimbledon in a Monty Python sketch. This is so silly...
