Started mine at 34. Then had a kid, then have one on the way. I do not currently consider this to have been a smart decision but will probably feel differently once I get my weekends back from the clutches of homework.
I kinda figured that I wasn't getting any younger and there was never going to be a "good" time to go back to school so I ripped off the band-aid. Timing that with a kid, a new house, and a new city, however, were unforced errors. Y'know, then the pandemic hit.
What are you going for? I went back at 31 unattached, so not quite your situation, but I loved every minute of it. School was so easy compared to working corporate and dealing with everyone's BS daily.
@fraggler I worked 1.5 years in corporate right out of college and quickly decided it wasn’t for me. Since then I’ve done social work, teaching both overseas and in US and I was studying language in China for two years planning on working there until the pandemic.
Since we gave up on that for now I decided to get my MA in Applied Linguistics w/TESOL emphasis. I am possibly going to be also teaching adult language learners at the local community college part time.
Tempted to make a silly joke about this being a horrible decision, but in all seriousness best of luck! Never such a thing as too old to try something new I feel, unless it's something like Olympic gymnastics in which case HAHA.
Started my MBA at 42, achieved it at 45, got married the following weekend. That was 2003. Getting married was the best, but the MBA was a good second! Congratulations, I think you will find it rewarding. And occasionally brutal. Patience, experience and treachery will see you through!
