Like Oldboy real or Phoenix Jones real?

Pushing the limits of noir, with social commentary, disturbing themes, rationale, etc. I saw many parents took their kids out of the film today. I guess that's not what they expect from a superhero movie.

Ahhh bother. Guess the superhero = kids' film thing is definitely still stuck in spite of recent trends. I actually forgot there was a Pattinson Batman movie even in the works. This was surprisingly quiet... or my head was in the sand.

I seem to forget the Nolan Batman movies were PG-13 and Joker was actually the R-rated anomaly.

R-rated for a reason ( here at least) Also no humour to lighten the mood ala Deadpool. Looking forward to seeing this over the weekend.

I'll stick to the Animated Series.

Did not like it at all. So dark that it's catatonic. Some will like that, but I thought was borderline masturbatory.

@ColtMrFire agreed. I only thought the cinematography and the batmobile engine sounds in Dolby cinema were the high points.

@Cellist88 the action scenes and general design/sound is great, there's just nothing going on underneath IMO.

It was like a teenage boy's version of Batman, or a film student who likes everything super dark without understanding story or character development. This is the Batman I would've made when I was a brooding 15 year old.
