I recommend a robot butler, it's on my list of audio uprgrades. They'll flip records and select new ones while I remain in the lazyboy.

I ocd sorted them by genre/artist/album name, so I can figure out what the unreadable ones are by where they are... I didn't sort them for that reason just a side effect ;/

Yeah, I'll have to do something about the sorting, chronologically with vague sub-groupings by similarity isn't doing it any more. I should put a pair of glasses permanently in the cabinet - but a robot butler would be great, especially if it would also mix drinks!

Just use your phone's camera preview with zoom, if you don't have glasses at hand.

@james444 , such a method was suggested to me for shopping for used CDs: take photos along the shelves, go away & browse enlargements for anything interesting.

@YMO I do have a lot of digital, but I have a weird desire to have music in the major format of its initial release - so most of my pre-mid-80s stuff is on vinyl, mid-80s to early-2010s on CD. Increasingly though I'm putting the CDs on the computer and streaming to Pi2AES.

I have had to use weak "readers" with my contacts for a couple of years now. I now just search my collection in Discogs and then go find it.
