I had this a while ago and didn't wait to file a dispute with PayPal. If you used PayPal you may be made to wait a certain amount of time for reimbursement, if the DAC isn't sent to you - so the seller has the opportunity to respond and offer a solution - but it's good to get the process started early and to use PayPal as the means for communicating with the seller and reporting what happened.
It's been a week since you paid and you don't know them? I'd send a "hey, please get back to me within the next couple days" message. After 2 more days passes, I'd contact PayPal about a refund and admins on Head-Fi. It's possible they just got busy but it's really not cool to ghost about a purchase. If people continue to communicate I give a lot of grace, no communication means start the dispute process soon.
I’m in a similar situation - been about 40 days. Seller sent me a Freya with a broken tube stage, I tried to work with him to get an RA with Schiit, but that hasn’t panned out. I’m asking for a refund, but so far he’s unresponsive - weighing PayPal protection.
@loadexfa I'll do this. On Saturday he promised to ship on Monday, but not a word since then. Also, according to his Head-Fi profile he hasn't been online after this. It just puzzles me that he has been a Head-Fi member since 2006 with some positive feedback - why start scamming people now...
Most likely not scamming you considering their history but still, they need to stay in communication. It’s not cool to take money and then dip out for a while.
I contacted Paypal on Saturday and got my money back today. So it was a slam dunk case in their eyes, which makes me think there indeed was a scam going on. But in the end, all is well.
