You can PM me if you like, but I bought a pair of JH13 in 2011 and still use them today. Since then, my right ear has stayed pretty much the same, but I need to have my left ear refit about every two years. YMMV. It took JH ten tries to get my left ear right this time, and it still isn't perfect, but I guess I can live with it.
Pretty much I fork over $200 every two years to full reshell refit the left ear, change all the filters in both ears, replace the sockets in both ears, and they throw in a new cable.
Just the UE4. I actually am pretty happy with universals. But its tough to find a fairly neutral universal...that isn't etymotic sterile/uncomfortable. The UE4 is the poor man's UERMish. I wish there were a poor man's Andromeda.
I love the UE4 and feel it's very understated. I wish they made a universal version of it. Being in SoCal, support should be easy. I might be wrong, but I think you can just drive down to their office and get a scan done instead of impressions.
Yeah, I was actually going to that this morning but kind of chickened out. It just seems like such a big commitment! I really wish that there was a universal UE4. Sounds like the closest is the Savanna (maybe)... But its $500 for a univeral.
I guess you could say I got lucky, but I got my UERMs when I was 16 (which everyone advises against) and they still fit perfectly over two years later. I definitely don't regret getting the UERMs, especially now that they're discontinued.
UE4 is an awesome monitor. I have had mine for 5 years and lot of other 'TOTL' IEMs have come and gone in that time. It is like a mini UERM - slightly less resolving but easier to drive, with a really well balanced, natural sound.
My first set is 7 years old and might be the best fitting ciem I have. It took several refits at the beginning to get that way, though, so maybe it evens out.
