I cant sort of understand why the Dems would stick with a boring, old, but somewhat effective incumbent. I cannot even remotely conceive why Republicans would think giving Trump another go was a good idea. But it's pretty obvious that everybody who makes these choices is terrified to try anything new.

I feel like Beavis and Butthead were more coherent than both of the crazy old codgers on display yesterday.

If I could, I'd vote for an inanimate carbon rod.

Even if Biden forgot he was President and decided he was a giant goose I think people would vote for him over Newsom

Damn, it was just a joke referring to people answering the subjective question that Crenca mentioned “are you informed?” about themselves. I’m sure many people think they are more informed than they are.

This is why in the Game of Risk dating back to the 1970’s I vividly remember that Ukraine was the single most important and strategic to possess…

Some things are true in reality and fantasy. They just ARE

Whenever one confronts what appears to be an inherent contradiction in the reality they see and cannot understand WHY it exists…

One must recheck one’s premises/assumptions. Revisit the facts and what you “know” to be facts and re-evaluate.
Repeat until contradiction is gone. (Helpful adaptation from Ayn Rand…)

Last I looked at the results, it was somewhere in the middle with a bell curve distribution.

Only in audiophilia do people think they are more informed than others. It's an expensive hobby. Admitting that you are not informed (having no clue of of V=IR or P = V^2/R) after spending thousands, tens of thousands, a hundred thousand would be admitting that one was really dumb.

You know what makes a great boss or leader? Admitting to people, peers and underlings: I don't understand this. I'm too dumb. I can't handle this. Can you set this up for me and show me how it works?

Ah! So you’re the other one! We should throw a mixer :)

I hear you - I do need to get some of those views by proxy, so what works well for me is the weekly Economist and a centrist diary from Spain. Can’t really spend all day reading everything, after all.

And sadly not-so-secret, some have been ChatGPTing shit for a year now. :(

I don’t have social media, but yeah, sentiment is pretty palpable everywhere.

And then there are bosses who won't admit to it, because they genuinely believe that they know everything and everybody else is wrong (Elon Musk).

Musk has some good ideas about meetings (which he likely borrowed at least in part from Steve Jobs) I have been trying to get applied at our workplace. We drown everyone in meetings to the point of destroying productivity.

Proper delegation skills. Employing people who can do the job and letting them do it.

Avoid calling abbreviations acronyms when they are not.

My greatest fear is that now, when my son moved to the states, people watching in Moscow, Beijing, Tehran know that they have six month window of opportunity. The big question is of course who has been and still is the real POTUS for the last year at least. Because it was not Joe Biden

I expect it is just his cabinet. Blinken, Yellen, Austin, Garland etc. I don't think it's a situation like we had under dubyah where you had a single guy like Cheney pulling the strings. Everyone vaguely understood that while it was occurring, and it's only become more clear with time how total it was.

And which one of them is The Commander In Chief who will order thousands of young people to kill and die fore the country?
If the answer for the question "who did you vote for" is " I expect I voted for Blinken, Yellen, Austin, Garland etc" what's the point of presidential election? Tomorrow those names may be replaced by Warren, AOC, Newsom etc...
And which one of them will be The Commander In Chief who will order thousands of young people to kill and die fore the country?
