The Oppo 105 is OK. I don't think it's as bad as Ravi says; but I know Ravi and understand exactly why he doesn't like it. The Oppo 105 is not a good value if strictly used as Redbook CDP because the ~$500 dedicated Marantz CDPs are better. I don't think "my friends think the 105 close to a DCS stack" or "105 is close to my vinyl rig" means anything. My primary vinyl rig (VPI) is better than the Yggdrasil. My secondary vinyl (ProJect Xpression) rig is about as good as the Gungnir DS. You'll have to be more specific on the setups, offer more references, and describe why and how they are close.

I agree that differences among DACs are not large, but it's exactly because of this that we apply extra scrutiny to CDP/DACs. Also, if you are not hearing differences, maybe the Elise amp you are touting isn't all that resolving. I will say that once you move up the ladder, differences among DACs become more notable and source becomes supreme.

Nothing wrong with suggestions, but you have to make a compelling case, or at least write a great story. And no, "this polish dude spent countless hours toiling in the moonlight to perfect the amp and asked people to blur out the caps, er I mean intellectual property, in the photos" or "I can't describe the sound, but it's better" is neither a compelling case or great story.

TZ (Twlight Zone). AT headphones deserve their own category.

Never doubt the Polish moonshine. Blind kielbasa with gain.

Audiophile CD players aren't really worth buying. You could build an el cheapo home theater PC outputted to a Schiit Modi 2U to wherever for cheaper. You can probably build a drive -> raspberry pi with ALSA exclusive mode-> Modi 2U (or you know a a Yggdrasil) that would smoke the Oppos for under 250 bucks.

Oh, I get what the shape *is*... I meant does the shape seem *odd* for what it is... or maybe I just don't have as diverse a range of experience as some of you blokes.

Just adding my vote: I'd love to see more iem measurements and

Purrin IEM Rig 2: Electric Boogaloo

Also, we can have a dedicated iem award:

Wonder if the Cavalli Liquid Crimson deserves a spot in here? I never heard it but intend to do so when I get the chance.

This list is also very good and something I'm gonna use in the future.

According to this list, none of the Eddie Current amps are worth anything either. You heard it here folks, Purrin is afraid to market his own products against the competition.
(don't be so humble Marv, where do your offerings lie here?)

I put Cobalt in by accident. It should be Crimson, which is my favorite Cavalli amp.

Yeah I was also wondering what that Cobalt thing was, never heard of it :D How does the Crimson fare against Liquid Glass?

LG is laid back, might suite certain setups. Crimson isn't as laid-back, and better all around IMO. More slam, more resolving, etc. I'm sure there will be others who disagree.

BP: EC is not in the list because @CEE TEE and I haven't had time to sit and honestly evaluate what belongs. Since the first list has been primarily driven by Marv, he will not discuss the relative merits of EC gear.

I'd put BW as best of for 2015. It belongs on that list and has really f'ing kicked SS amps in the pants. EC goodness with the strengths of SS amps? Under $3000? Holy shit.

Studio is VG. E in an absolute sense but it's hard to recommend that ridiculous level of neutrality and resolution to everyone. It has too many caveats (need Yggdrasil or better to recommend absolutely, etc).

Will regroup with CEE TEE offline and compile our rankings.

It might come back for a limited run of forty units, but at a much higher price. The issues were too many parts, limited rare parts, compacted components with resistors mounted upwards, complexity, etc. In retrospect, just a of dumb stuff. The board cost slightly more to make than the parts. For the first ten, we probably made a few vinyl records worth of money for each unit, not counting our time.
