    CPU: i7-2600K @4.5GHz
    GPU: EVGA GTX 980 Ti
    MOBO: Asus P8P67 Deluxe
    RAM: 16GB EVGA 2133MHz
    Storage: 2x 240GB Sandisk SSD Plus (480GB RAID 0)
    Cooling: 840mm Custom Watercooling Loop

Build is focused for silence, with the only fans being Noctua P12's at 400RPM :) (with the exception of one S12A) Saw someone talking bad about the P12 above, if it's loud you're running it too fast :p The P12 is pm the quietest fan besides the S12A, but the S12A is garbage for anything besides airflow. Way quieter than the F12 for only 1 C ;) (I've easily spent $500+ going through fans, P12 are truly cooling endgame lol)

I'll have to keep that in mind for when I redo my entire cooling system with the next cpu upgrade.

    GTX 1080 hard-launch tomorrow.

After the Founder's Edition bullshit I'm waiting out for Polaris and Vega.

The Founder's Edition bullshit left a bad taste in my mouth, especially after someone pointed out the PCB is current limited fairly severely, and that it's only a 5-phase power delivery system, with missing parts for the 6th phase obvious when you look at the PCB.

Any word on when the third party 1080s launch, it's just the founders tomorrow correct?

Definitely thinking of upgrading to one from my 970 this summer, especially if third parties hit that supposed 599 price point.

Will also be interesting to see how close the 1070 comes to the 1080 or 980 ti

No word, it's apparently locked down under an NDA. Don't want to give people hope before nVidia bleeds them dry.

My computer is pretty old...2600k was cutting edge when i made this. There's nothing that it can't do so i haven't had to upgrade in a long time plus i get refreshed with a new issue laptop every other year for work.

Most of the WC stuff is swiftech (pump/rez/cpu block) EK (GPU blocks)

The only feature i currently want out of the latest and greatest is the NVe ssd support.

It's a few years old now and I'm starting to struggle with getting consistent 60fps @ 1440p (high - max settings) with the newer titles.

With a 40" 4k Korean monitor on the way, I'm thinking I might finally do a slight upgrade and nab a 3rd party GTX 1080 (or two) once they become available.

I've decided to hold out for HBM2, so I'm probably not getting a new graphics card until q1 2017.

They have HMB1, I think. I think Samsung has yield issues with the HMB2 modules.

Nice build, I like the compactness. I would get an open chassis like that, but it would fry the cats.

Id been debating a new build for quite a while now, I'm sure you guys know how it goes.

I built my machine like 5 years ago, 2500k @ 4.5, and a 6950, upgraded to a GTX 670 about a year ago that my brother gave me. It still plays many games at high, specially at 1080p on my tv.

Looking at a new build I would get most of the benefits just from upgrading the graphics card in my current machine, but I really wanted to be able to use NVMe and more importantly I wanted it to be mITX, since you don't have to sacrifice anything to go mITX these days. That and the thrill of part hunting and putting the computer together.

Well newegg putting the 6700k on sale for 315 put me over the edge. In the past I always recommended the i5 to friends, but in the last year or so it seems more and more games, specially AAA titles are utilizing all 8 logical threads. And even when it isn't improving your average frames a bunch, it does seem to improve minimums an awful lot, and I wanted this machine to hopefully last another 5 years.

    Anyways, the parts,

    image.jpeg

    Fractal Design Core 500
    6700k @ 4.6 at 1.36v
    Noctua D-15
    MSI GTX 1070 Gaming 8G
    ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 mITX/AC
    16GB g.skill ddr4-2800 at CS16
    Seasonic Platinum Fanless 520w
Samsung 500gb 850 Evo for now.
    LG Blu-Ray drive

The build took quite a while, getting everything in there. Basically had to take every single screw that could come out of the case out, and build the case back up around it.

    image.jpeg

I was also bummed, I was hoping to get to use 2 fans with the D-15, there was a guy online that used it in the same case and he had the one in the middle, but he also had one between the d15 and the back of the case pulling, but I guess I got unlucky with my socket placement cause it wouldn't fit there by like 3mm...Alas, even with just the one fan the temps are fine.

The machine is incredibly quiet, the GPU even when running furmark is basically silent, and at idle the fans don't spin at all, so props to MSI there. And I'm willing to sacrifice slightly higher temps on the CPU to keep that one fans speed down.

    Anyways, pics!

My most powerful rig was built back when the CPU I'd used was just about the most powerful around, it's still my most powerful of 4 rigs...

    Main Rig: Intel i7 3960X/Asus Rampage IV Extreme/16GB Corsair Dominator Plat 2133mhz/2x Sapphire R9 290X (H2O)/Seasonic X-1250/Caselabs M8/64bit Win10 HP
    2nd Rig: Intel i7 4770K/ASRock Z87 Extreme6/16GB RipJawX 2133mhz/2x Asus GTX Titan 6GB/Enermax MAXREVO 1500W/Tt Level 10GT/64bit Win10 Pro
    3rd Rig: AMD FX8350/Asus Crosshair V Formula/16GB RipJawZ 1600mhz/2x GB HD7950/SilverStone OP1000/Corsair 650D/64bit Win10 Pro
    4th Rig: Intel i7 2600K/Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z/16GB RipJawZ 1600mhz/2x GTX 670/Corsair HX-1050/Fractal Design Define Mini/64bit Win10 HP

I'll be back with pics if necessary, Will have to take some new pics as I've lost the link to my old ones....here's one I'd taken recently, it shows the Thermaltake Level 10GT case....
And older pic, I'd replaced the HD800 with the HE560, the HD800 is now hanging on a DIY'ed under table headphone holder. The Rokit5 G3 near field speakers is hooked up to my Oppo HA-1 via Blance XLR cables, while the Fostex HPA4 is hooked up to them via RCA cables.I've also replaced the CM Novatouch KB (with Miami key set) with a KUL ES-87 Cherry MX Clear KB (with Bumblebee key caps). Just in front of the left speaker is my HFM HM901s + Campfire Jupiter IEM.

Just finished building my new rig based around a 6600k, gtx1070 turbo, and asus z170-a, after 5.5 years on an oc'd phenom 1100t and 6950, unlocked to 6970. It was about time!

Thanks to three jet.com 15% coupons (no tax in CA) and a few slickdeals, my parts list ended up as: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/dubiousmike/saved/WrbnTW

Still experimenting with how much I want to oc it, but man this machine flies compared to what I have been accustomed to.

Looks like a solid build! If you are going to be OC'ing definitely keep an eye on temps with a CLC, I had a H100 and a H100i die on me (both pump failures), since I have gone back to air (D14) and have been good. I would play around with the OC's to see what your sweet spot is, either way should be a big upgrade for you!
