Sony advertisement 1973
National Lampoon (how I miss that magazine!) caught some shit for this edgy cover. I still think it's one of the funniest covers I've ever seen. I saw it at a newstand in Boston and laughed my ass off, then bought it.
PS: No dogs were harmed in the photographing of this cover (obviously)
Definitely doesn't work in today's ultra sensitive society.
True. Another appalling (hysterical) thing they did in one issue was a satirical spread on Biafra, then in the grips of a terrible famine. That page sported a memorable faux print ad: a skeleton wearing an apron taking an empty baking pan out of a '50s suburban oven. The tagline:
NOTHING SAYS NOTHING LIKE NOTHING FROM THE OVEN
(I laughed myself sick in a fog of guilt)
That is truly old school... surprised they haven't been cancelled yet.
NATIONAL LAMPOON bit the biscuit decades ago. Something that no longer exists is beyond cancellation...
I know they're not around... but cancel culture's goal is to rewrite history and erase all memories.
As a Stand Up Comic you can occasionally catch these dicks out. A media guy here in Sydney took umbrage to something I posted on Facebook so it was beholden to me to point out to him that 15 years ago he said the same gag was genius in a review ha ha.
Anyone else notice today Bezos’ rocket looks like a giant FLYING COCK?
Oh come now, surely The Onion goes further than this?
Only the whole world! I read an article yesterday talking about the science and rationale behind the design.
Of course, if anyone wants to think that it is the perfect shape for transporting Bezos into space, that's fine...
The real joke is believing the band will show up in time for soundcheck...
See The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. The devil is a very reasonable fellow! Very amusing too, lol.
Great book! Heart of a Dog is equally as good IMHO
