I'm eagerly hoping Villeneuve can make Dune happen.

As cool as this could be if done well, there were some incredible actors in that movie. Too many to name, but suffice it to say, there will never be another actor who can do Feyd‑Rautha better than Sting:

Sorry that 2nd video had me ROTFL, had to include it.

"You're name is Han and you're alone? OK, we'll call you Han Solo" as Lando boinks a robot and the Falcon made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs by taking a shortcut... blow me.

That may have been the intent but as it stands Solo has made $354M on a reported $400M budget including marketing. They're going to need to sell a LOT of Blue Rays to get back to even. Good. Bastards.

This is one of the biggest problems with storytelling in modern movies: the need to go back and explain what shouldn't be explained. I don't want a damn Boba Fett movie. Reverse storytelling (like the prequels) can inadvertently damage the original properties.

Only if we can have a scene where Boba lifts Jango's helmet up only to have Jango's severed head fall down from it. I long for the days of 70s films' realism.

Agreed. I didn't need to know the history of the Man with No Name. He's a badass, okay. Moving on to the story...

I'd rather let the IBM computer who won the debates write the movies.

Depending on how we're defining butthurt... I might be butthurt. It's just a movie, I know, but...

I'm glad you like the movie, but the consensus is also strong: the movie blows in many ways to many people.
It's the only Star Wars movie since 99 i haven't watched more than once in the theater. I only watched it once, and I don't really want to revisit it.

Probably have to start at a remake of TFA before TLJ tbh. It was also a very shit movie. I remember walking out of the theater thinking star wars was a dead franchise lol.

It's also the only movie in the last I don't know how long that I seriously considered walking out of the cinema during.

People are free to dislike the film, but crowdsourcing a replacement film is just a fan wank exercise. Every franchise has fan fiction but most fanfic authors don’t argue their work should replace the canon.

At the end of the day it IS just a movie and people need to calm down.

Also, and this is a general rant, not specific to anyone here, Star Wars has some of the most entitled and infantile fans of any major franchise. All the way back to “George Lucas raped my childhood”, there’s been this sense that because fans paid for a ticket to a movie, or bought merch of any kind, they are entitled to dictate to the creators of the franchise how it should go. I’m hard pressed to think of another major fandom where this attitude predominates. Lucas said he sold Lucasfilm because of abuse from fans and didn’t want to deal with it anymore. Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran were forced off of social media by abusive “fans” who thought they could hurl sexist and racist comments because they paid to see the movies.

I get that Star Wars holds a special place in people’s hearts, but attacking and threatening the people who bring the stories to us is utterly destructive. If you don’t like the direction SW has taken, voice your concerns, but do it respectfully and constructively. Or find another franchise. Star Trek has more top tier content than Star Wars in my opinion, countless hours of excellent storytelling across multiple shows and movies. Or better yet, write your own space opera and put it out there for critique. Maybe people will flock to it the way they did SW and Trek.

Again, this is a comment on the fandom in general. End rant.
