    Any 6X0 cable I try on my black paper 580 works just fine. Granted it's a raised plate, but back when I had a flat plate the same was true.

    The only problem I've had has been HD540RG 600ohm and aftermarket cables not working on them. Likely the same problem would be for HD250. Real Sennheiser cables work but fancy aftermarket shit doesn't.

    However, for all 580 aftermarket works just fine and I own them all. I wonder if you own some freaky extra early version or something.

    The first version of the HD580, like the HD580 Jubilee, has smaller connector holes that are rounded on the edges. Stock HD650 connectors will not fit. Cardas HPSC should fit, you can get knock-offs from Aliexpress.

    Thanks for the help guys! I’ll start with AliExpress knockoffs. I must have one of the first 580. Here’s it’s next to my HD600 BP, so it’s definitely a smaller oblong oval than what’s on newer versions. (Don’t mind my HD6xx grills.)

    Another option would be to pop the grills off the HD580, then pop off the lower trim rings and replace them with some from an HD650 (or just leave the trim rings off entirely), then pop the grills back on.

    To me, the flat plate 580 is the best of the sennheiser family. I prefer it over then lsn 800 too.
