That looks stunning. Are you using a square or octagonal restrictor gate on the stick? The square can make it hard to pull off some of those moves unless you grew up with it- a lot of people in the west prefer an octagonal.

Yeah, modern TVs tend to default to rather a lot of post-processing in the FRCs- Sony (as an example) went through a stage of having way too much, and stuff looked f'ing awful in the early to mid 2000s, as well as being quite high latency. Being able to disable most of that crap is a must.

(My favorite was when the FRC did motion prediction as part of its processing- a football in a panning shot in front of a stadium crowd would leave a trail).

The extraordinarily expensive custom FRCs in GSync monitors, on the other hand, display quite impressive latency.. but you do pay for it.

Thanks! I was originally using a square gate. I have since swapped over to an octagonal and a 2lb spring for more resistance and spring back. I do have a larger actuator coming, but not sure if I need it. Already it is much better now - I am only limited by my fading hand eye coordination and reflexes now...

That's me in Destiny 2 PvP, I try to make up for it with a high framerate and a streak of evil. xXDarkKevin420Xx doesn't know what hit him :)

Really I think the NES is meant to be used on desktop with a computer monitor. The controller cable is ridiculously short and only makes sense on a desk. Which is kinda lame.

I still kinda miss my old CRT. It was a massive 22" ViewSonic pro graphics monitor that displayed 2048x1536@75Hz.

Ahh...The good old of analog video processing where the only input latency was waiting for the electrons to get to the other end of the wire, work their way though a few filter circuits, fly out the end of the electron gun at a good fraction of the speed of light, and smash into phosphor coated leaded glass 12 inches from your face.

Now there's no one perfect monitor because the pro graphics ones with best color all have too much input lag and none of the gaming ones with minimal lag have color as good.

When the green channel on my old CRT started dying I scrambled for a new lcd fast and ended up going with an Asus PG279. 27", 2560x1440, 165 Hz, and G-Sync. The refresh rate is complete overkill but the input latency was great and the other features lined up with what I wanted. Plus the best thing about LCD screens for games IMO is that you can mount one on a gas-spring arm, pull it all the way out to you nose if you want to, and not have to worry about getting a bigger one.

Dunno, I use an IPS GSync monitor for gaming- the fact that it's only SRGB is fine, and the colour stability, black levels and viewing angles are very respectable. It's way better for gaming than the Adobe RGB gamut monitor that I use for photo editing.

Honestly, depends on what you want. If it's competitive, low lag and gsync and high refresh rates. If it's noncompetitive, any modern decent ips panel will do.

I'm not saying any of that stuff is bad on the better gaming monitors, just lamenting the fact that there's not really anything TOTL in both categories at once any longer.

When it was all CRTs neither input lag nor pixel response times were issues and higher end models always had higher refresh rates for reducing eye strain. That made a TOTL graphics monitor a TOTL gaming monitor as well, but now they're separate market segments.

It really is nowhere near as simple as that.

I still have this XBR Wega CRT in my basement... man I was pumped when I got this thing 15 years ago. It weighs 150 lbs too!

My Dell ultrasharps might not have the fastest response time (6ms) but the colors are spectacular. Going from 2 cheap acer 1080p 60hz panels to these 1440p 99% sRGB Dells was one of the best upgrades I've ever done. Games look stunning on these panels. Next up is a 144hz 1440p gsync monitor, but not until next year.

Are they in supply again? Nintendo at first made too few of them to play the market just before the Switch came out.

I do not trust Nintendo sources in this so my exact question to you is this: can you buy one without worrying about the Mini NES Classic being out of supply?

I bought one a few days after release at a major store and it seemed to have a good number stocked.

Here's an interesting little game if you're looking for a puzzle / adventure game with a heavy religious theme:

I'm not going to say it's the best game I've ever played, or that the story makes total sense in the end, but it's not often we get a game that's so heavily into Catholicism and demons / the devil and for that alone I think it might be worth playing.

    @Skyline

Hmm... maybe 5-8h depending on how much like to rush through games. I like to take my time and think I did it in around 8h, it's not an expensive game though and I felt like I got my money's worth.

I haven't played a game on my PC in YEARS. It may be time to break the streak.

If you like puzzle / adventure games with a bit of a story I might also recommend:

    Portal 1 & 2
    The Talos Principle
    What Remains of Edith Finch
Sherlock Holmes - Crimes & Punishments

    Thanks.

I've played the portal games and loved them.

Myst and Riven are the two games that hooked me on PC gaming in my youth, so I still have a soft spot for those types of games.

In that case you should try The Talos Principle, it's seriously good. One of my all time favorites.

There is also Portal Stories Mel, a community mod game. It's harder than the original games and some of the puzzles are going to give you a real head scratcher, but it's good. https://store.steampowered.com/app/317400/Portal_Stories_Mel/
