Yeah it might as well be unobtanium, it looks like (50 total units in 2022). Also can’t think of anything outside of the Stellaris that SBAF has given a nod to at this kind of price point, much less an SS amp.
What kind of fuckery is this? Both that link and their website make it hard to find the price. I had to find the second or third google result to get the MSRP or scroll down past the walls of text. Looks like everything wrong with the hobby.
$7999. Only 50 made each year. Pre-order for 2023 via headphones.com. Not interested, partially because I can't afford this, but mostly the "everything wrong with the hobby" of it all.
I know that quite a few members have given a nod to the McIntosh MHA150 (still curious to hear one eventually) but that seems a grand exception. This one feels like the SS equivalent of than Johnson amplifier that was apparently a roided out Garage 1217 Horizon?
@JeremiahS I'm not employed by them, I'm being contracted to produce videos.
Though regardless, I ordered my HM1 long before that and also headphones.com has already sold all of this years allocation and 23/25 of next years. So there's not really much in the way of a financial impact for headphones.com themselves regardless of what anyone says about the HM1 at this point
@GoldenOne Thank you for clarifying but it’s probably better if you put this disclosure in your content. It’s hard to tell nowadays which reviewer is genuine and which one is sponsored
Zahl was already a boutique pro audio company with console gear pushing into the six digits. This is just a tiny sidestep for them, maybe even a passion project. Still outta reach for most, but we're not the target.
@GoldenOne All I want to know is if you paid 6999 GBP for one. I think it is a fair question to ask. Especially as you claim to be impartial and objective on your website. I'm not doubting that claim but it would put to rest any speculation if we heard directly from you. I don't care if you got one for free. It just needs to be part of the info provided if you claim to be an objective source of reviews.
@Rthomas I paid I think it worked out to just under £6000 with the USD/GBP exchange rate at the time. But I also ordered via the US so it was a bit cheaper than the EU/UK pricing directly with VAT included. (Though I've yet to receive the fedex import bill so will see if that holds true in a couple weeks XD)
I did not get this for free. Sold my Holo Serene and AHB2 to help pay for it.
