No time for searching and I'm out of touch with this stuff...

Need a recommendation for a non- audiophile and non-hobby friend who wants a good in ear wireless. Does anything exist?

    Thanks!

The Internet has a hardon for the Jaybirds X2's. They sound alright for the price (they're under $120 on some online retailers.) But for someone who isn't an audiophile, they are more then sufficient. And they're sweat proof with a decent 8 hour battery.

Amping a Slant; to what degree do Slants scale? I am considering BW or perhaps waiting for Copperhead. Currently running Gungnir Multibit with Headamp GS1.

I really like the GS1 , but only up to like a 650 or efficient planar...he400i, Ether. Slant needs more power IMO to get the best from them.

Resolution and instrument timbre (slightly plasticky) are both more or less constrained by the T50rp driver. But beyond those two things, I've found that the Paradox/Slants scales with every upstream improvement I've encountered. Dynamics (micro & macro), clarity, speed (to some degree), headstage, etc. all respond very well to upstream improvements.

So, yeah, a BW, Rag, L2, hypothetical Copperhead etc. are all worth it for a Paradox IMO if you're looking to improve more than plankton.

I have limited t50rp experience, but my ZMF Blackwood sounded the best from my Rag. BW was also pretty good, but something about the rag made it a clearer, more comprehensive, and smooth.

    Hey Ship,

There is a bluetooth MMCX cable in the UK that could work with any IEM that is MMCX...want me to find it?

Also, the Noble BTS is a small bluetooth Amp/DAC that can make any phones semi-wireless.

Also, Westone has a $150 cable that I'm not willing to invest in without additional feedback.

In my experience the only planar-mag that truly scales.
It has the best microdynamics of planar-mags I have heard and takes good advantage of high end tubes.
It won't scale like best dynamics, like HD800 or even HD650, yet not far off (like most other things planar magnetic).

Quick question and i hope @Marvey can chime as well as other members, would it be best to pair my hd800 with a nad m51 or a x-sabre ? I have to tell you the sabre costs 2/3 of the M51.

Ive read what he wrote a bunch of times but i cant seem to get around to a conclusion.

I'm about ready to buy some speakers. (my vintage speakers are a no go)

Anything else I should consider in the sub $400 department besides the Philharmonic Affordable Accuracy Monitors?

I've read a bunch of comparisons to the Elac B5 and B6, but most have the AAM coming out on top.

This will be used in a room about 12x12 feet. No sub.

Can anyone recommend a good headphone for mastering? Asking for a friend, needs to be unamped to stay under budget of around 300.

In addition to my earlier speaker question, I have another question that I'm not sure where to ask, so here seems a good a place as any.

I'm currently using my phone to stream my local files and tidal to my Chromecast audio via wifi. Apparently this doesn't lead to any degradation in sound quality and it sounds good to me.

Can a Chromebook do the same? I'm tired of wearing down my battery on my phone and would like to browse the web sometimes while listening.

Would prefer a Chromebook over a traditional windows laptop for the fast boot times and minimal usage.

So before I spend a good amount of money on headphones, I would like to be able to try them out. Im just not surre what kind of places would have this available. Im in upstate NY, and there doesnt seem to be really any places to try out headphones. I whent to one place (The Stereo Shop) that had a few cheaper sennheisers and grados, along with some B&W and sonys, but im not sure where else there is. Ideas?
