I used to visit Head-fi quite often.... Nowadays, I'm there only for classifieds.

It's exhausting to find a meaningful information over there. For example, HF's 37 pages Jotunheim thread is filled (mostly) with "Great product", "This is a killer product", "I want this", or just showoff pics without explanation or reason of their opinions. Or Chord Mojo thread. Hundreds of pages of basic questions which are listed extensively on first page.

Only piece of meaningful information. Only real reason to SBAF-ers to visit head-fi.

The breaking press embargoes thing is just terrible. So Jude will never genuinely review a manufacturer offering (they're all awesome!!!!!!) but he will violate a written or verbal contract and screw with manufacturers' launches? Wtf would happen if a product launch had to be delayed and he had broken press embargo? What a shitty person. That's bad for the manufacturers too. I wouldn't want to do business if that was the kind of thing happening.

Kind of like Wal-Mart for headphones- we all have to deal/ live with it one way or another.

If he makes a habit of doing this, it will catch up to him eventually. Bank on it. Crummy people tend to hoist themselves by their own petards, in time.

More than once this has happened. The reason I know is that a handful of manufacturers do consider SuperBAF a worthy press outlet, and we are given dates and times when the press embargo will be lifted. For the record, we were not part of the recent Jotunheim launch by Schiit.

Bottom line is that Jude doesn't care. He has a monopoly on the mindshare - he can do anything he wants and get away with it.

It's getting tiresome putting up with the rando idiots on there who think they know everything about audio because they bought everything on the hype train. The price-ism is also overbearing.

There are good people posting over at HF. Some of them from here :). The problem is that the culture at HF sort of makes us kind of stupid and post stupid things - a lot of stupid things so we can reach 5000 posts. Granted that we post many stupid things here, but I do tend to be about 50% more on my toes and more careful before hitting the post button. Much of the time here, I write a post, but end up not posting because there's no point.

To be fair, I've been posting a lot more here to hit 1000 so I can have all the trophy points.

Over the last few weeks I've read the entire 35000+ posts in the Sennheiser 650 Impressions Thread.... like sifting through mining tailings for gold. I feel stoopid.

This is pretty accurate. I tend to lose my patience with people on HF while I'm much more laid back here on sbaf. Still, I do my best to be respectful on HF. I'm generally an easy going guy both in person and on the forums.

Do we know yet "for sure" that Jude has jumped the gun on the Jotunheim launch? Or was it a savvy move from Schiit to build up excitement over the upcoming SchiitShow... In any case, felt strange that Jason has kept mum for months, nay years, but hours before the big opening Jude tells to the whole world what it was all about.

I don't imagine @schiit wants to chime in...

Don't expect @schiit to comment publicly on this as it would affect a business relationship with Head Fi. Besides, it really isn't any of our business what dealings they have with each other. Nothing stops people from speculating however.

I look at the "surprise annoucement" as stealing the thunder of an actual announcement the next day rather than "building excitement". I think it was petty and selfish of Jude to do what he did. Second year in a row that someone leaked info about the contents of the schiit show before it opened. I expect this not to happen for a third schiit show, whenever it will be.

I'm glad it was good for you too. We should be having a drink and smoke ---- but I gave up both long ago! ;)

Somebody said already, leaks are all part of the marketing process, but admitting it would be counter-productive.

Anyway, who is first by a few hours on this sort of thing seems unimportant to me. Being first is a short-lived glory: having the best coverage and conversation thereafter, and, maybe, the last laugh, is what counts. So I'm not whelmed at all by any claims, made or inferred, that being the newsbreaker makes Jude and headfi better.

But yeah, he has got the massive numbers, and if I was him, I'd have been taking the view that he didn't need cheap shit like that.

Did he break that the Schiit Show was actually going to be a single-product launch? That might have been a service to the community. Might even have saved a few people travelling. Had I been in the vicinity, I'd have been nothing-here-for-me disappointed; had I travelled from further away, I'd have been seriously fed up. Don't care how good the thing is, I don't have a vacant spot to suit. What's true for me is bound to be true for others too. Schiit Schoots Schelf in Own Foot. Except, of course, for the people to whom Schiit products have become the cigarette cards of the current times: a buying phenomena Schiit seems only too happy with. And heck, I would be too if I was them.

Maybe(my theory) the reason why Dictator KJU is so "sensitive" of SBAF(or the old Changstar to a certain extend) is because he is afraid that one day SBAF might take over KOREAN CENTRAL TELEVISION for new product launches. Aka stealing North Korea's thunder. Maybe he wants to be in viewership/number of site visit dominance over any other headphone related audio sites so as to control his vast of list of sponsored vendors.

Unfortunately for Dictator KJU, his censorship and news dominance plans won't work that well as it's not about who's first(as Marvey puts it), but which site/forum has the best content & signal to noise ratio. Over time more and more people will get to know about SBAF through sites like innerfidelity or word of mouth or other channels(reddit and audio meetups and big events etc).

I guess we were both typing the same sentiment at the same time. You put it succinctly; I use too many words!

Badmouthing hf equals to beating up one armed leper in a wheelchair. You need places like hf. It's a sort of spiritual enema to visit there. Clean up your pipes and let the dark side flow. Five minute dosage every now and then should do the trick. It's also a healthy reminder how much I appreciate this very forum. Zeus bless you all!

When I found this place for the first time I said to myself - Welcome to sbaf Porker. Sorry about your ego.
