So apparently one of the channels cut out and he confirmed with Craig that something is faulty with the amp. This is almost 3 months after we've closed the deal (around April) We've had pleasant phone conversations+ left each other good feedbacks
If it is still under warranty, you could submit a warranty request on behalf of the new owner. Otherwise, you are not really liable. That was three months ago and used sales are usually as-is and final. I mean, part of why used prices are so low is that warranty is not ever assumed.
3 months? Ridiculous. You are not at fault, if the item worked on arrival etc...They are shit outta luck, and will need to pay to have it fixed. Sucks, but it is what it is. Thats part of playing the buying used game.
Since the device worked at time of delivery, tell the buyer to take a hike. Feel free to be polite, but tell him you cannot be held responsible for anything which may have happened to the amp in the three months since the sale. For all you know, he spilled a drink on it and shorted something out. Or replaced a tube incorrectly. Or whatever. Your DM history is sufficient documentation for any dispute.
UPDATE: I contacted Paypal, and they closed the case immediately in favor of me T___T omg crisis averted. I was about to sell my Verite and other gears to deal with this situation. Thank you everyone for your input. This was rather a stressful morning for me and I'm just going to hug my dogs for a bit for stress relief
Refund after 3 months? The person is either kidding or dumb. You have no idea what they did with the amplifier. They maybe even fried it somehow (no idea, connecting output directly to power outlet for lulz?). Everyone understands that you either save a lot and buy used with any potential risks or pay more and buy brand new with all perks.
Glad this all worked out for you. I’m with everyone else here. Selling used audio gear is like selling a used car. If you don’t kick the tires, do your due diligence, before buying, then anything that comes up after is really on the buyer. Now if it happened on delivery then it’s understandable.
There's not much we can tell you that'll calm your nerves, but perhaps meditation (or liquid medication) would be useful...I hope you find peace, you did nothing wrong.
Thank you for your concern @Jinxy245 I really appreciate it! I'm just shocked that this happened to me. The guy has reputable feedback and status on headfi. I don't wish any ill-things upon him though. I hope he can get that amp fixed and enjoy listening to it again because it's still one of my favorite amps to this day.
Also thanks everyone that have replied, your responses helped me a lot trying to get a better grasp of the situation. You are all awesome and hope you guys had a better morning than me haha
This is great PP ruled in your favor multiple times. I would think twice before using PP in the future if they didn't. If the person shits on you with a negative feedback please share their name so everyone knows who to avoid to deal with.
