I've had a couple of disappointments this year, with fruits that wouldn't ripen. Turns out that our maid used to sell fruit. She went to the wholesale market and got us a good one. She's even doing all the cutting work!

Have already stuffed myself. It's coursing through my veins. My skin is glowing. Even my piss will smell of it!

@pavi Don't know where you are. If USA, I'd guess it grows somewhere there? I've seen it in UK, at absurd prices.

I'm pretty sure it would have to be considerably further south than anywhere in the USA that I have ever lived.

@Kunlun, probably not. I had a Malaysian-Indian GF in London, and she *loved* Durian, so, expensive import that it was, she occasionally indulged.

Weird thing 1: How can something that smells like a never-cleaned toilet be edible, let alone pleasant?

Weird thing 2: How can something that looks like some sort of fruit have a texture more like custard? ...

... It's a reality-defying experience that people ought to have at leat once. But I'm not *wild* about it. Whereas I'm a Jackfruit Junkie.

Mango. Yes, I love mango. But it still doesn't have the same effect, the same overall exerience, the same... high (I don't know how else to put it) as jackfruit.

I've only had durian once at a market in St. Martin, but it was one of the most wild sensory rollercoasters I've ever experienced. And the reactions of passers-by while I carefully cut it open was funny. That's some stinky shit! But good lord is it delicious!!!

Jackfruit is ok, love me some good mango. But durian is THE KING of Fruits! Wife only allows me a quota of 2-3/year (cost, smell). Season is coming soon, w00t!
