    @Armaegis We don't really have a mongoose equivalent. Importing them is illegal and a major biodiversity risk as threat assessments have concluded that they would wipe out native species. The most anti-snake thing I can think of is a Kookaburra or a Blue-Tongue lizard. Neither can be had as pets. The usual solution is reducing their food sources near a dwelling. By in turn reducing their food sources.

    Hard to tell which sort. If it was a Brown Snake (the most usual in our area) it was on the darker side. Possibly an Eastern Small Eyed Snake. About 20cm in length.

    Someone on my block got a puppy that barked out back all night a few years ago, I mentioned to my next door neighbor that I wished someone would quiet "the really annoying barking puppy" - turns out it was them, they got a crate the next day. It was awkward and unintentional but maybe an intentional direct confrontation would work.
