Incidentally related to this thread, but I had my headphones on and forgot I still had my handheld microphone laying on the desk. It was picking up the vibrations from my typing and going through the mixer into the headphones producing a very satisfying low thunking sound as I typed. Way better than anything from a clicky keyboard.

I just picked up some upgrades for the PC, one of which is my new 75% ASUS Azoth wireless mechanical keyboard. Hot-swappable 3/5 pin, red linear switches, gasket mount with foam dampening. Even came with a lube station and some Krytox GPL-205 lube. It's like a gaming company actually made an enthusiast board. We'll see how long I leave it stock, lol.

I finished building my Neo65. This was my first custom build. To say it was tedious would be an understatement.

I am a guy that actually reads instructions, thus I expect them to be complete, especially as this is considered a budget build and will attract newbs, such as myself. Thankfully Qwerty Keys Discord proved helpful at filling in the gaps that their build guide overlooks. I was able to find answers without having to ask, as many others had posed very similar questions.

It looks fantastic to me and am very pleased with the aesthetics. I haven’t even yet removed the film from the copper bottom weight.

Functionally it will take some getting used to. I am used to either simple switches to change a mode or just clicking a designated Logitech button. With this hot swab board, you have to go into the proper mode before switching to a specific device. Small but tedious details. The only thing I still need to do is program a few things with VIA, like volume controls, etc, since this smaller layout doesn’t have function row.

Here’s the real issue: I’m really used to a low profile membrane keyboard. This mechanical keyboard has an 8 degree tilt and is tall, at least compared to low profile. So this feels really high to me, as I’m used to barely any tilt or height. Also it feels like I have to press comically far to engage the keys. Now I’m remembering why I switched to low profile . Definitely need to buy wrist rest; I already feel pain in my left wrist. Probably will try a walnut custom wrist rest from Etsy, as that will complete the fantastic looks, but I’m just not sure if I’ll be able to adjust back to regular sized mechanical keyboard or not. Well, at least I went in the budget range to experiment.

Funny enough i built the QK100 and though i would need a wrist rest but this is one keyboard I can do without it. Personal preference is so... personal, lol.

If you are interested in one of the rests i built, and are ok with one this is a little longer and most likely a tiny bit above the keyboard rim send me a PM. I have 2 and am using 0.

It looks great, my friend built one in the wine purple.

On the one hand this makes for an alarmingly good pun, and if it encourages stereotypical gamers to better adhere to basic hygiene then all the better; on the other, I'm wondering how much of a premium they're pricing this at (also: DE razors way cooler).

You dodged a bullet by not owning one. I only buy BRG/tan cars, so naturally I've owned some British vehicles -- and especially from that era, they're worse than you can imagine even if you've heard all the Prince of Darkness jokes.

More recent British cars are better, but the 12-year-old one I own now is still only "reliable for what it is", which isn't the same as "reliable".

Has anyone here tried the revived IBM Mini M keyboard? Buckling springs technology?

My 8bitdo wireless keyboard (Famicom edition) with box white switches. It comes with 2 macro buttons that I mainly use for 2 button rhythm games.

If you're considering a new Unicomp Model-M keyboard, you should also take a look at modelfkeyboards.com. The Model F was the more rugged metal predecessor of the plastic Model M, available for the PC XT and PC AT in the early 80s, and the guy at modelfkeyboards has been making replicas for a couple years.

His website and ordering process is a disaster, but worth suffering through if you want a keyboard of that type.

I don't have any personal experience of a Model F. I loved my Model M.

I'm a Mac user and I'm a bit concerned as to how the Model F would support that.
