unfortunately civility doesn't sell. I predict continued manufactured strife.
The media are not planning any "post Trump." I think they are already pissed with Dorsey for cancelling Trump Twitter account.
They do not get their daily fix of outrage in the morning and that causes severe withdrawal symptoms.
But just in case, CNN announced that Trump has a secret army and the role of the media would be to defend the country against this army for the next four years.. Like if the idea that Trump can have secret anything is not funny enough.
Oh, they will find a way. Already seeing subtle jabs in the soundbites and headlines.
Just wait until Biden cannot achieve 100M vaccinations in 100 days (Biden's call, not the media's). The boogeyman Trump will be there to blame - when it's not Trump- but the American people (States wanting to do their own thing, massive bureaucracy in states such as CA*, anti-vaxxers, COVID deniers, malaise - people not waiting to wait 4 hours in line at a country fairgrounds, lack of transportation for older people, lack of time-off work for younger people, selfish people [therapists who see people via zoom] who want to jump in front of the line, etc.)
The blame the last President thing in recent times seems to have started with Obama and accelerated under Trump. I'm sure the media would love to participate.
* As of today, CA has administered 37% of its allocated doses. Compared to other high population states as such as CT, LA, and TX which are around 61%-56%. Having dealt with CA state institutions, I am not surprised. But you know who the media is going to blame.
In the Jax area, but outside Jax. Read carefully below for classic Florida Maaan.
The things I've seen at Waffle House.
1. Couple eating. The girl orders orange juice and extra waffles. The guy gets visibly upset and says, "Why you ordering extras when you see me just eating a basic meal?" The girl gets upset and says, "You asked me out to eat and I'm just trying to enjoy myself". Guy says, "You know I only get paid on the 1st and 15th. Ask her to take it back so they don't charge me for it. Girl, "Eew you cheap!". Guy, "Your weave is cheap. It was a mistake to ask you out!" Girl grabs her water and throws it at him, "You alone because you're cheap and that's why no one likes you!"
2. Heavy set guy eating a steak with a ton of A1 sauce. I see him grab his arm and scurry on outside to his truck. Paramedics show up and the poor dude had a heart attack.
3. Guy surrounded by three women. It was a crazy table since all the girls were dressed up with glitter or tiger print. They start to hand money over and I realize he's a pimp.
I think after of those I decided to skip Waffle House unless I was really really hungry. Anthony Bourdain was right though when he said, "It is indeed...Marvelous!"
Those are the stories that I wish I had. But I never had any drama at WF. However, the first story is legit and that guy is a tool. He reminds me of my virgin friends who are still virgins in their 30s/40s living with mommy.
WF food still great.
God I miss the T-bone steak, eggs, and hash browns. Great when you need something to sober up from the bar. I can see why he got caught there.
You're right though; I had to cut ties with friends who were just mooching off everyone until their next unemployment check. When you're in your late 30s and you haven't figured life out but are still going to the club while complaining about money. It's time to face reality on why you can't hold a relationship.
“We’re storming the Capitol it’s a revolution”
Steve Colbert had a funny response to this clip.
Curfew in NL starts tomorrow. I honestly do not mind the measure that much. It is the details that worry me.
It might help a bit but as a Dutchie I know there will be people sneaking around because they can. When you know where to disappear, you move in the shadows.
NL is almost in a state of emergency, the current cabinet (including prime minister) stepped down because of a massive clusterfuck (, yes it is really that bad) and this cabinet is still semi-in-charge (demissionair) of the Covid-19 measures. The current cabinet fucked up by being lazy in the beginning (March to September 2020), particularly regarding testing and tracking the virus. In NL Covid-19 was treated like a flu at first. Many of my colleagues at the time (many Asians among them) treated the situation better than most doctors and medical experts in NL did (you know family with S.A.R.S. stories).
Our state media still call Covid-19 a "epidemic" instead of a "pandemic."
There are some nuances I am skipping (enough for a rant filled book mind you) but staying calm is so hard these days. I am disgusted, really disgusted.
^ Glad to know it's not just the USA.
It's like what I've been telling you y'all. The Asians, they've been through SARs, Dengue, H1N1 before and they have zero trust in the Chinese Communists and any worldwide institutions they've bought off like the WHO. Taiwan was already mobilizing against this scenario years ago.
Note the date:
And seriously, WHO finally declares a pandemic just 7 days before California shuts down in March? Why isn't anyone fired at the WHO? Why this Tedros Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tool still there? Many millions of lives around the world could have been spared had the WHO did their job.
Same thing for USA CDC, going back successive administrations. These Presidents have to stop appointing their friends.
This goes back to my old job writing content for brands, working in marketing and analytics and all, but people referring to Tweets as "twits" has always peeved me, never mind that "twit" is a remarkably accurate descriptor for loads of what goes on there.
Also, on the topic of things that mess with my sense of inner peace: https://www.bworldonline.com/its-final-lockdowns-dont-work/
They may have half a fair shot at working if not for the fact that vacuous people with essentially nothing in the way of brain matter didn't think it was fine to keep breaking quarantine to get laid, get wasted, or get high.
Submitting my area for consideration as an exception, save for that Sinophobia that goes beyond harshly judging the CCP is definitely in vogue.
Of course he was arrested at a Waffle House.. Classic Florida Man.
Which I have no fricking clue what that means. Is Very High under Most High under Ridiculously High under Ludicrously High? The WHO seemed to offer mixed messages in light of them saying that travel should not be closed to China - or maybe that was the Commies using that Tedros Tedros tool as a mouthpiece.
The UN is useless and has been for some time - decades now. In fact, I would argue the UN is harmful against US interests and Western values because the China Commies have bought off so many banana republics to legitimize their hegemonic world plans and internal "1984" tactics.
Well, you guys got your populist President. I think the China Commies are paying him.
Serious questions about the WHO, but, more seriously, no government needed the WHO to wave the P flag before they got started. WHO might well have been doing a chocolate-fire-guard act, but that does not excuse individual governments' actions or inactions. Each was responsible for their own. And continue to be.
I'd honestly be happy to joke about that but I'm maybe getting a job teaching English to Chinese kids over a proprietary program that I'm not entirely sure isn't malware. Just makes me more keen to finally get a desktop build done so I can use my old lappy as a burner for this sorta crud, lmao.
The Soviets tried the same shit. The PRC is just a fascist state ruled by a communist party. It will get it’s due eventually and the results won’t be pretty. Expect falling down buildings like the eastern block with straw in the concrete and former Yugoslavia type ultraviolence. All of the CCP’s against the Tibetans, Uighurs, and Mongols will have bad blowback for the Chinese people the rulers bussed into points and lines on the map.
Actually where I live, the population is probably more disciplined and trusting in government that I ever could imagine. In other Canadian cities people are complying to the point that every time they discover some public gathering it becomes a national news.
You completely miss the point: the link in your note is not about some theoretical model of reducing infections by quarantine of the healthy. it is about about the trade offs. And I quoted here before, that just in Albert the delta of deaths from overdose exceeded the COVID deaths. I recently found out that a member of my distant family who had addiction problem died from overdoes and cold because he could not find a shelter during lockdown.Non-elective surgeries in Ontario are reduced to the point that people die, and that is acknowledged by the media.
The bottom line is that if we try for another year if lockdowns work or not, we may kill a lot more people. And contempt for people who may not comply with the restrictions solves nothing.
I reread the article and my previous post to make sure my head was on as straight as can be expected given scoliosis. I was not contesting the findings of the study referenced in the piece (which I did not bother looking up, I must admit) because it only makes logical sense and my own personal experience and observations ratify that yes, protracted lockdowns have debilitating economic impact and that the risks of undertaking the same should have been obvious to anyone with two neurons to rub together.
Why this piece irritated me was that it framed lockdown measures as ineffective against case growth and transmission of this virus, especially in a an area where you have a population density of approx 15.6k people per square kilometre. Estimating the tradeoffs between letting this virus do as it will and the socioeconomic and health ramifications of keeping people inside has been a popular conversation piece for a while, though that strangely hasn't stopped many people (not quite enough I suppose: https://www.bangkokpost.com/busines...tself-as-a-paradise-covid-retreat-no-one-came) from faffing about for trivialities.
The point I am scraggling towards is that community quarantining would be far more effective if people actually adhered to the damn advisories.
It's the unwritten rules of the game. The China Communists are amoral (not the same thing immoral). This amorality allows them to play Western founded institutions and the Western mind with ease. (Note how easily they bamboozled Clinton, Bush, and Obama). Trump is equally amoral so Xi's Commie Mind Trick shit didn't work on him.
BTW, I hope people don't think I dislike the UN because of Trump. I've been anti-UN since 2000. way before Trump had any clue what it was, and probably even way before Bannon. My feelings only solidified further after watching Team America: World Police.
The UN is even worse today than back then.
